STAMFORD, Conn. – February 24, 2018 – On the final day of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, NBCSN will wrap up its coverage from PyeongChang, South Korea, with seven-and-a-half hours of programming dedicated to powerful and influential Olympic stories. Beginning tomorrow, February 25, at 11:30 a.m. ET, NBCSN’s presentation will include 1968, a 90-minute film chronicling the turbulent and politically-charged 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City; Calgary ‘88, a one-hour documentary which explores the historic men’s and ladies figure skating competition at the 1988 Winter Olympics; as well as NBC Olympics’ “Best of the Games,” highlighting the most memorable moments from PyeongChang 2018.
1968
Fifty years since the Olympic Games in Mexico City, NBC Olympics chronicles the tumultuous and politically-charged year, with a 90-minute documentary entitled 1968.
1968 was a transformative period in the U.S. and throughout the world. It was the deadliest year of the Vietnam War, Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated, Soviet troops crushed the Prague Spring, and protest movements raged in North America and Europe. In Mexico City, protests turned violent when government troops opened fire on demonstrators just 10 days before the Olympic Games. Amidst that backdrop, the Mexico City Games became a stage for the collision of sport and politics.
Four-time Olympic gold medalist and 23-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams narrates the film.

CALGARY ‘88
Calgary ‘88, which first aired on NBCSN during the opening night of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, looks back at the men’s and ladies figure skating competition at the 1988 Winter Olympics
Billed as “The Battle of the Brians,” American Brian Boitano and Canadian Brian Orser squared off for gold in the culmination of a decade’s long rivalry. In addition, U.S. superstar Debi Thomas took on East German rival Katarina Witt, both performing their long programs to music from the opera Carmen.
The powerful and attention-grabbing events of the 1988 Calgary Olympic Winter Games catapulted the popularity of figure skating. Throughout the remainder of the 1980s and ’90s, ice skating shows attracted packed houses and booming television ratings, influencing significant changes in figure skating competition and scoring.
The one-hour documentary is voiced by iconic actor and acclaimed author Rob Lowe. NBCSN’s encore presentation of Calgary ’88 begins at 1 p.m. ET.

NBC Olympics “Best of the Games”
Beginning at 2 p.m. ET, NBCSN celebrates the most momentous moments from the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, with a look back at Shaun White and Chloe Kim’s emotional gold medal moments on the halfpipe, Mikaela Shiffrin’s gold medal giant slalom run, and Lindsey Vonn’s bronze medal performance in her final Olympic downhill event. Coverage also includes Steve Schlanger and Chad Salmela’s exhilarating call of Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall’s historic gold medal win in the women’s team sprint, and Team USA’s thrilling victory over Canada in the women’s hockey gold medal game.
