January 23, 2018 (New York, NY and Stamford, Conn.) – NBC Olympics is partnering with Vox Media on a new podcast – The Podium – which will take an inside look into each of the 18 days of competition during the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, as well as introduce members of Team USA and other behind-the scenes content prior to the start of the Games.  As the official NBC Olympics podcast, The Podium will feature exclusive and in-depth interviews with 2018’s most promising Olympians, NBC Olympics commentators, and stories from on the ground in PyeongChang during the Games.

“With NBC Olympics’ deep history of storytelling combined with Vox Media’s excellence in journalism, we’re looking forward to bringing even more unique stories from the Games to audiences,” said Gary Zenkel, President, NBC Olympics and Business, NBC Sports Group. “Through initiatives like The Podium, fans have more ways than ever to connect with the Games.”

The Podium will be recorded onsite in PyeongChang, and produced by Vox Media. The Podium will release each day beginning Thursday, February 8 at 8 a.m. EST, providing a recap of the previous days’ competitions, overnight developments, and a look at the day ahead.  The Podium launched on January 3 with several preview episodes reporting on the culture and history of host country South Korea, along with insights from Olympics experts on some of the biggest moments and names to know as the world builds toward February 8. The Podium is available on Apple Podcasts across iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, CarPlay and iTunes on Mac and PC, and other podcast platforms via iOS and Android devices.

“Audiences seek out Vox Media podcasts for in-depth audio programming that explores and explains the most significant events in our culture,” said Nishat Kurwa, Executive Producer of Audio for Vox Media and Executive Producer of The Podium.  “We’re thrilled to work with NBC Olympics to bring that expertise to the first-ever podcast about the Games.”

Advertising opportunities are available for pre, post and mid-roll host reads for the duration of The Podium series.  Sales efforts for The Podium are being led by NBC Olympics’ digital team, in collaboration with Vox Media’s sales division.

The Podium’s premiere episode will be promoted across Vox Media’s network of premium podcasts, including in the feeds of popular shows such as Vox’s The Weeds, Recode Decode, Vergecast, The Polygon Show, SB Nation’s Shutdown Fullcast, and Eater Upsell.
