STAMFORD, Conn. – January 2, 2017 – NBC Sports Group will present nearly 10 hours of live U.S. Olympic Speed Skating Trials beginning today at 5:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, as well as more than 20 hours of live coverage of the 2018 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships from SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., with the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from PyeongChang, South Korea, just 37 days away.
Top U.S. athletes and Olympic hopefuls slated to be featured this week throughout NBC Sports’ Olympic winter sports coverage include:
- 2017 U.S. figure skating champion Nathan Chen
- 2016 world figure skating silver medalist Ashley Wagner

NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the U.S. Olympic Trials continues with live speed skating today at 5:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
Two-time Olympian Heather Bergsma and two-time world champion Brittany Bowe are expected to headline the women’s competition, while reigning mass start world champion Joey Mantia will headline the men’s competition. Four-time Olympic medalist Shani Davis is seeking his fourth Olympic berth.

U.S. FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS
LIVE COVERAGE BEGINS WEDNESDAY AT 11 P.M. ON NBCSN
2017 U.S. champion Nathan Chen, who won this year’s Grand Prix Final, 2016 world silver medalist Ashley Wagner highlight NBC Sports Group’s more than 20 hours of live coverage of the 2018 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships from the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. Coverage begins tomorrow, Wed., Jan. 3, at 11 p.m. ET with live coverage of the ladies’ short program on NBCSN. NBC hosts live coverage of the ladies’ free skate, pairs’ free skate, and free dance throughout the weekend, beginning this Fri., Jan. 5, at 8 p.m. ET with the ladies’ free skate. Live coverage of the pairs short program begins on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and continues on NBCSN.
The 26-year-old Wagner, who is the 2016 world silver medalist and a three-time U.S. champion, could become the oldest woman to claim the title since 1924 (Theresa Weld Blanchard). She will be joined by reigning U.S. champion Karen Chen, 2010 Olympic fourth-place finisher Mirai Nagasu, and 2017 Skate America winner and 2015 U.S. junior champion Bradie Tennell.
Highlighting the men’s field is 2017 Grand Prix Final, Four Continents and U.S. champion Nathan Chen. He will be challenged by 2016 U.S. champion Adam Rippon, 2015 U.S. champion and 2014 Olympic team bronze medalist Jason Brown, and 2013 U.S. champion Max Aaron.

FIS ALPINE SKIING WORLD CUP
LIVE COVERAGE CONTINUES WEDNESDAY AT 10 A.M. ET ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA
This week’s coverage of the FIS alpine skiing World Cup season continues Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.
Mikaela Shiffrin is expected to lead the U.S. contingent at this week’s slalom and giant slalom events. Shiffrin recorded her 37th career World Cup win on Monday in Oslo, Norway, tying her childhood idol Marlies Schild for sixth all-time among women, and has won six of her 13 starts this year, including four of five slaloms.
Slalom skiers are in Zagreb, Croatia, for mid-week slalom races, where Shiffrin is once again expected to headline the U.S. contingent. The men and women will then split up for the weekend, with the men going to Adelboden, Switzerland, and the women going to Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, for giant slalom and slalom races.

The World Cup ski jumping season continues from Innsbruck, Austria and Bischofshofen, Austria. Reigning world champion Stefan Kraft and 2017 Four Hills Tournament winner and two-time Olympic gold medalist Kamil Stoch of Poland are expected to be the top contenders.
The American team is only expected to compete at the fourth and final stop of the Four Hills Tournament (Bischofshofen). The U.S. contingent will likely be headlined by Michael Glasder, who qualified for the Olympics at the U.S. Olympic Ski Jumping Trials over the weekend.

Jaelin Kauf, 21, has all but secured her spot on the Olympic moguls team after earning two podium finishes already this season, while Troy Murphy will be seeking his second podium finish of the season as he aims to make his first Olympic moguls team. In aerials, 2017 world champion Ashley Caldwell could also help secure her place on her third Olympic team with a podium finish, while 2015 World Cup champion Mac Bohonnon is expected to lead the American men.
