SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL — HALFTIME

ON END OF PATRIOTS-STEELERS GAME

Rodney Harrison following video of Ben Roethlisberger’s post-game comments about the game’s final play: (Roethlisberger) is full of it because once you hear the words, ‘clock it’ — especially a young player like Eli Rogers — the first thing he’s doing is he’s frozen. He’s not moving. The mere fact that he moved and he actually ran a route, and he was the only one, that tells me that (Roethlisberger) communicated with him. Because normally a young player like that if he hears “clock it,” he’s going to do what? (to Dungy)”

Tony Dungy: “He’s going to stand still. And if you told everybody else to clock it and you thought they were all going to clock it, you can’t try to throw that slant into 10 people. That was just a bad play by Ben.”

Harrison: “But if you’re Big Ben, just come out and say, ‘You know what, I told them to do this.’ Just admit it. You’re a very aggressive offense, you go for it on fourth downs, two-point conversions. It just didn’t work.”

Dan Patrick: “But you’re playing at home for the tie, and then you go into overtime.”

Harrison: “It’s just hard to respect the guy that won’t come out and say, ‘You know what? I messed up.’
