NOTES & QUOTES FROM FOOTBALL NIGHT IN ATLANTA ON NBC – WEEK 14

“I really think this is a better team than they had in their Super Bowl year,” – Tony Dungy on New Orleans Saints

STAMFORD, Conn. – Dec. 7, 2017 – Following are highlights from Football Night in Atlanta, which aired prior to tonight’s Week 14 Thursday Night Football matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

RODNEY HARRISON ON RYAN SHAZIER’S INJURY

Harrison: “Very emotional as a parent. I look at it as a parent and I saw that young man lying down on the ground, I instantly told my wife, ‘There is no way I am going to let my 10-year-old son and my 13-year-old son play anymore football.’ Then I was able to calm down a little bit and I looked at it from a football player standpoint and the only thing that I’m saying with Ryan is this is a teaching point for all youth kids around on whatever level you are playing – you have to tackle with the proper technique, keep your helmet up, see what you hit and use your shoulder pads.”

HARRISON ON CAMERON JORDAN

Harrison: “When you want to talk about a guy who is going to get sacks, its defensive end Cameron Jordan. This is a kid that you definitely have to put in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation. And he does it all – sacks, batted balls, tackles for loss. He can ruin a game.”

ON THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Tony Dungy: “I really think this is a better team than they had in their Super Bowl year.”

Harrison: “This is a better team because they can run the ball and they play good defense, but this is not a better Drew Brees. He was better back when they won the Super Bowl.”

Liam McHugh: “But still a Super Bowl-winning QB?”

Harrison: “Yes. And he is still a great player, but he was better years ago.”
