STAMFORD, Conn. – October 23, 2017 – Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA – a partnership between the International Olympic Committee, the United States Olympic Committee, and NBCUniversal – presents 13 hours of live coverage of the 2017 Skate Canada, highlighted by performances from 2016 World silver medalist and three-time U.S. champion Ashley Wagner and 2017 U.S. Champion Karen Chen this Friday, October 27, at 3 p.m. ET.

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA kicks off coverage of the alpine skiing season beginning this Saturday, October 28, at 6:30 a.m. ET with live coverage from Soelden, Austria, featuring Americans Mikaela Shiffrin, the 2014 Olympic slalom gold medalist and reigning overall World Cup champion, and Ted Ligety, who won the Olympic giant slalom gold medal in Sochi.

In addition, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will debut Lillehammer ’94: 16 Days of Glory, tonight at 8 p.m. ET, and Nancy & Tonya, tomorrow, October 24, at 8 p.m. ET.

Following are highlights from this week’s programming on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA:

ISU GRAND PRIX FIGURE SKATING – LIVE COVERAGE BEGINS FRIDAY AT 3 P.M. ET

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA presents 13 hours of live coverage of 2017 Skate Canada beginning this Friday at 3 p.m. ET, with the short programs from Regina, Saskatchewan. Coverage of the event continues throughout the weekend, with the free skates on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. ET. NBCSN will present encore coverage on Sunday night at 11.30 p.m. ET.

The women’s field features a fierce competition headlined by 2016 world silver medalist and three-time U.S. champion Ashley Wagner and 2017 world silver medalist Kaetlyn Osmond of Canada, along with 2017 U.S. Champion Karen Chen, who won her first U.S. title and finished fourth at the World Championships last season. Japanese teenager Shoma Uno, who finished second at the 2017 World Championships and recently posted the fourth-highest total score ever the Lombardia Trophy, and 2014 Olympic silver medalist and three-time world champion Patrick Chan of Canada highlight the men’s competition from Saskatchewan. 2014 Olympian Jason Brown will represent the American effort.

In the pairs’ competition, two-time world champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford of Canada face off against Germany’s two-time world medalists Aliona Savchenko and Bruno Massot. Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the reigning world champions and three-time Olympic medalists, lead the ice dance field.

Andrea Joyce calls the action on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, alongside 2011 U.S. figure skating champion Ryan Bradley. Joyce will be joined by 2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Ben Agosto for the ice dance competitions.


FIS ALPINE SKIING WORLD CUP – BEGINNING SATURDAY AT 6:30 A.M. ET

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA kicks off the alpine skiing season with live coverage of the first World Cup event of the season from Soelden, Austria, beginning this Saturday at 6:30 a.m. ET with the women’s giant slalom.

2014 Olympic slalom gold medalist and reigning overall World Cup champion Mikaela Shiffrin, who is competing for her 45th World Cup podium and 32nd World Cup victory, is expected to face reigning giant slalom world champion Tessa Worley of France.

Live coverage of the event continues on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET, as 2014 Olympic giant slalom gold medalist Ted Ligety returns to competition following back surgery in January. Five-time giant slalom World Cup champion Ligety is expected to face stiff competition from French duo Mathieu Faivre and 2014 Olympic bronze medalist Alexis Pinturault.

AMERICAN CHAMPIONS:
MIKAELA SHIFFRIN – PREMIERES WEDNESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET

American Champions: Mikaela Shiffrin premieres this Wednesday on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA at 8 p.m. ET. American Champions takes an in-depth look at Shiffrin’s career since her gold medal win at the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Since Sochi, Shiffrin has been one of the most accomplished skiers in the world – winning two world championships, one world championship silver medal and the overall World Cup title for the 2016-17 season.
