This Week’s Coverage on NBCSN Begins Tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET with Blackhawks-Canadiens Original Six Clash

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 9, 2017 – NBC Sports presents three NHL games this week, highlighted by the Vegas Golden Knights’ inaugural home opener tomorrow night at 10 p.m. ET, as Marc-Andre Fleury and the Golden Knights play host to rookie Clayton Keller and the Arizona Coyotes at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Two of the league’s biggest stars face off on Wednesday Night Rivalry, when Sidney Crosby and the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins take on Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. This week’s coverage begins tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET with an Original Six clash, when Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks host Carey Price and the Montréal Canadiens.

NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app — NBC Sports Group’s live streaming platforms for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs — will provide live streaming coverage of this week’s NHL action.

Liam McHugh will anchor studio coverage on-site from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Tuesday, as NHL Live surrounds the Golden Knights’ inaugural home game. Pre-game coverage on Tuesday, which begins prior to Blackhawks-Canadiens at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, will include a feature on UNLV assistant hockey coach Nick Robone, who was injured in during the Las Vegas mass shooting, as well as an interview with Golden Knights’ defenseman Deryk Engelland. Coverage on NBCSN will also include pre-game ceremonies in Vegas prior to puck drop. Kathryn Tappen will host from Stamford with Jeremy Roenick and Anson Carter.

Alex Faust (play-by-play) and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst)  call Knights-Coyotes tomorrow at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and Gord Miller (play-by-play) and Brian Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) call Blackhawks-Canadiens from Bell Centre in Montréal. Five-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick (play-by-play), former NHL player, coach and general manager Mike Milbury (analyst), and McGuire will call this week’s Capitals-Penguins Wednesday Night Rivalry game from Capital One Arena.

Pre-game coverage on NHL Live begins one hour prior to all games on NBCSN. McHugh anchors Wednesday’s coverage, joined by analysts and former players Keith Jones and Jeremy Roenick, as well as NHL insider Bob McKenzie. Post-game coverage on NHL Overtime will air on NBCSN immediately following this week’s games.


COYOTES-GOLDEN KNIGHTS – TOMORROW AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Golden Knights started their inaugural season with two road wins, including a 2-1 overtime win in Arizona on Saturday. James Neal scored the game-deciding goal in both of the team’s wins, including the game-winner on Saturday. Neal’s three goals this season rank tied for fifth in the NHL.

Through two games, defenseman Alex Goligoski leads the Coyotes in both points (three) and assists (three). Arizona dropped its first game of the season in Anaheim by a score of 5-4. Tuesday’s contest marks the second of five games Arizona is slated to play against Vegas this season.


WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY – CAPITALS-PENGUINS – 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Capitals are 2-0 to start the season, led by a seven-goal outburst by Alex Ovechkin in those two games. Ovechkin is the first player since the NHL’s inaugural season in 1917-18 to produce back-to-back hat tricks in the first two games of a regular season, and ranks first in the NHL in goals (7), while teammate Evgeny Kuznetsov ranks first in assists (7). Washington plays tonight against Tampa Bay.

Pittsburgh earned its first win of the season on Saturday, a 4-0 shutout over Nashville in a rematch of the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. The Penguins have outscored the Predators 12-0 in their last three contests.  Sidney Crosby’s five points are tied for fifth in the NHL.


BLACKHAWKS-CANADIENS – TOMORROW AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Blackhawks enter the week with a 2-0 record to start the season after outscoring their opponents 17-2, including a 10-1 win against the defending champion Penguins in their regular-season opener. It marked the most goals ever scored by a Chicago team in an opener and the first time it has scored at least 10 goals in a game since 1988. Kane registered four points (1g/3a) versus Pittsburgh, followed by a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win against Columbus. Chicago visits Toronto tonight.

The Canadiens open their home schedule against the Blackhawks following losses to Washington and the New York Rangers this weekend. Montréal defeated the Sabres, 3-2, in a shootout in the season opener in Buffalo on Thursday.
