**Day 2 of the 2017 Presidents Cup continues on Friday at 11:30 a.m. ET on Golf Channel with five four-ball matches.**

Day 1 Foursomes Matches (United States lead the International team 3 ½ – 1 ½):

Rickie Fowler/Justin Thomas def. Hideki Matsuyama/Charl Schwartzel 6&4

Dustin Johnson/Matt Kuchar def. Adam Scott/Jhonattan Vegas 1up

Patrick Reed/Jordan Spieth def. Emiliano Grillo/Si Woo Kim 5&4

Branden Grace/Louis Oosthuizen def. Daniel Berger/Brooks Koepka 3&1

Kevin Kisner/Phil Mickelson halved Jason Day/Marc Leishman

Fowler/J. Thomas speaking with Golf Channel’s Jimmy Roberts following their 6&4 win
Justin Thomas – “I knew I was going to be nervous. I know I was going to be feeling some kind of butterflies. But they’re good nerves, they’re good butterflies. And I think regardless of how I feel now or down the road, Rick and I are always going to be great partners. But I think it was a great partnership for me because he’s done this a lot… And obviously we did just fine out there.”

Rickie Fowler – “We’re both very comfortable around each other. We know our limits in a way. I can push and say stuff to him that I know may not be the best of things to other people. But we kind of help motivate each other out there. And I know his game very well, he knows my game very well. So it’s fun to put the two together and go out there and get our first team point.”

Reed/J. Spieth speaking with Golf Channel’s Steve Sands following their 5&4 win
Jordan Spieth – “When we’re playing alternate shot, we want to be the ones to make the putt, not our own teammate. Obviously we’re rooting for each other, but it’s kind of a competition within itself that for whatever reason works for us.”

Patrick Reed – “It’s very easy to get going. When I get going to that first tee I’m really hyped up and ready to go, but [Jordan] brings me down and he’s really calm and kind of able to let me ease into it.”

Kuchar/D. Johnson speaking with Roberts following their 1up win
Matt Kuchar – “These are really hard conditions. We just found out we were bogey-free today. Which is amazing. In alternate shot in these conditions not to make bogey… and for us to just win 1up, that’s a heck of a battle.”

Dustin Johnson – “The greens they got a little bit faster, especially with the wind drying them out. It was windy enough today where you had to play the wind on putts. It made it really tough to make putts I thought.”

Grace/L. Oosthuizen speaking with Sands following their 3&1 win
Louis Oosthuizen – “I think we play pretty similar games… Today I think suited us a lot with the windy conditions. It was tough today, but we don’t get down on each other… We gelled right.”

Branden Grace – “It wasn’t as loud as I thought it would be for the first day out in New York, but we’ve got so much home support out here, which has been awesome. It’s nice of them to walk around and cheer us on.”

On the International team
Frank Nobilo – “The International team is trying to find its Charles Atlas. They’ve had sand kicked in their face so far, but they’re trying to find their Patrick Reed or Ian Poulter.”

On the United States team
Nobilo – “The confidence with this young American team, they picked up right where they left off at the Ryder Cup.”
