NBCSN Kicks Off 2017 Ivy League Football Coverage This Week – Penn Hosts Dartmouth on Friday at 7 p.m. ET

STAMFORD, Conn. – Sept. 27, 2017 – NBC Sports continues its season-long coverage of Notre Dame Football this Saturday at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN when the No. 22 Fighting Irish (3-1) host the Miami (Ohio) University RedHawks (2-2) in just the second-ever meeting between the two programs.

In addition, NBC Sports Group kicks off its 2017 Ivy League Football coverage this Friday at 7 p.m. ET, when the Penn Quakers (2-0) host the Dartmouth Big Green (2-0) on NBCSN.

Notre Dame moved back into the AP Top 25 this week, following a 38-18 win over Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday. The Fighting Irish’s 20-point victory was their biggest win against Michigan State since 1993. After converting on four-of-four red zone trips against the Spartans on Saturday, the Fighting Irish are now 19-of-19 in red zone offense this season (t-1st in FBS).

Miami (Ohio) improved to 2-2 with a 31-14 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. QB Gus Ragland accounted for three total touchdowns, including two through the air, and finished the game 11-of-19 for 217 yards. The RedHawks’ defense clamped down in the second half, holding the Chippewas scoreless over the final two quarters en route to their first conference win.

Before taking the helm at Miami (Ohio) in 2014, head coach Chuck Martin spent four seasons with Notre Dame, where he served as the defensive backs coach/recruiting coordinator from 2010-11, before being elevated to offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach (2012-13). In 2012, the Fighting Irish averaged 412.2 yards per game under Martin’s direction and earned a berth in the BCS National Championship Game against Alabama.

The only other time the two programs have squared off was in 1909 in South Bend, a contest Notre Dame won, 46-0, before finishing their regular season 7-0-1. Saturday’s contest against Miami (Ohio) marks the sixth time that Notre Dame has faced a current member of the MAC in program history. In 2010, the Fighting Irish defeated Western Michigan, 44-20, to improve to 5-0 against the conference.

Paul Burmeister (play-by-play) will call the action this week, while Mike Tirico handles golf coverage of the Presidents Cup on NBC and Golf Channel. Burmeister will be joined in the booth by Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie (analyst) and sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen.

Liam McHugh hosts studio coverage of Notre Dame Football on NBC, alongside former college and NFL quarterback Chris Simms, on-site at Notre Dame Stadium for every game this season.
