NOTABLE QUOTES: BMW CHAMPIONSHIP (THIRD ROUND)

NBC Sports Group Notable Quotes
BMW Championship
Saturday, Sept. 16 (Third Round)
Conway Farms Golf Club, Lake Forest, Ill.

**NBC Sports’ final round coverage of the BMW Championship begins Sunday at Noon ET on Golf Channel, and continues at 2 p.m. ET on NBC.**

On Marc Leishman (19-under, leader)
Jim “Bones” Mackay – “He’s completely unflappable on the golf course. I think when the heat is on, other than maybe Justin Thomas he has the best demeanor in golf when he’s playing under pressure that I’ve seen in a long time.”
Johnny Miller – “The big question for Leishman is will he do what he did last week and shoot 40 on that last nine [tomorrow]. That’s going to be weighing on him tonight a little bit… Leishman’s got a big enough lead that he shouldn’t lose it tomorrow, but you never know.”
Miller – “His strength is his tempo, no doubt about it.”

On Jason Day (14-under, T-2nd)
Roger Maltbie – “[The 2 iron] is kind of a new wrinkle for him because usually he’s one of those guys who is such an effective driver that he’ll just bludgeon a course to death with [the driver]. He hasn’t given himself many good looks at all.”
Gary Koch – “By hitting his 2 iron so much off the tee, he’s leaving himself some lengthy second shots into some of these holes and effectively putting himself at a disadvantage.”
Miller – “He’s holding it together for how poorly he’s hit it.”

On Rickie Fowler (T-2nd)
Miller – “Rickie played the back nine so well the first two rounds but only hit one fairway on the back nine today, and that was the secret to not much happening.”
Mark Rolfing – “He hit a few crooked drives…It’s a pretty remarkable score given where he’s hit some of his shots today.”

On Patrick Cantlay (11-under, T-5th)
Peter Jacobsen – “I think he’s got Jordan Spieth-like talent. I think we’re going to hear a lot from Patrick Cantlay in the next couple of years.”
Rolfing – “He is just a very steady player. He does not make a lot of big mistakes, and he’s just not very flashy about what he does.”
