NFL

In this Sunday’s season opener of Sunday Night Football – America’s No. 1 primetime television show for a record six consecutive years – 2016 Offensive Rookie of the Year Dak Prescott and the NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys host two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning and the New York Giants from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Sunday night opener marks the 11th meeting between the Giants and Cowboys in NBC’s SNF package – the most-played matchup in the show’s history (since 2006). Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with Football Night in America, the most-watched studio show in sports.

Calling both matchups is Al Michaels (play-by-play), in his record 32nd season as the voice of the NFL’s premier primetime package; 16-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth; and two-time Emmy Award-winning sideline reporter Michele Tafoya. NBC’s coverage of NFL Kickoff 2017 and Sunday Night Football is led by executive producer Fred Gaudelli and Drew EsocoffSunday Night Football has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Sports Series in eight of the last nine years.

Seven-time Grammy Award-winner and multi-platinum recording artist Carrie Underwood will perform Oh, Sunday Night, the opening theme for Sunday Night Football. The 2017 edition will debut on Sunday, Sept. 10, prior to NBC’s first SNF broadcast of the 2017 NFL season. This marks the second season that Oh, Sunday Night will serve as the theme for Sunday Night Football.

Football Night in America is hosted by Mike Tirico, who will report from Gillette Stadium on Thursday, and AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Dan Patrick co-hosts Football Night from Gillette Stadium on Thursday night, and from NBC Sports Group’s Studio 1 on Sunday night. Patrick will be joined by Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison, and Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com and PFT Live on NBCSN and NBC Sports Radio. Paul Burmeister will report from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., on the Eagles-Packers game on Sunday.

 

NASCAR

NBC Sports Group surrounds the final race of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular season, with over 17 hours of trackside coverage from Richmond Raceway, in Richmond, Virginia. NBC Sports Group’s race coverage begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with XFINITY Series racing, and culminates Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series racing.

NBCSN kicks off its Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series coverage from Richmond Raceway, this Friday at 10 a.m. ET, with first practice, followed by final practice at 12 p.m. ET. Qualifying wraps up the day at 5:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Saturday’s race day coverage begins at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with NASCAR America, and leads into NBC Sports Group’s pre-race show, Countdown to Green, at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Pre-race coverage includes a feature interview between Jeff Burton and driver of Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 14 Ford, Clint Bowyer. The two former teammates discuss the pressure Bowyer feels going into the final regular season race, still needing a win to qualify for the Playoffs. Bowyer also shares how he balances the stress of the season, by spending time at home with his family. Pre-race coverage also includes a live on-set interview with Matt Kenseth, as he attempts to clinch one of the remaining three playoff spots this weekend.

In addition, pre-race coverage includes NBCSports.com’s lead motorsports writer, Nate Ryan’s in-depth interview with former stock car driver Jerry Nadeau. Fourteen years after surviving a devastating career-ending crash at Richmond Raceway, Nadeau discusses how his accident has helped improve the safety of the sport, and how he is using his heartbreaking experience to try and help the next generation of NASCAR hopefuls.

NASCAR Cup Series racing begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and is followed by a live on-site NASCAR Cup Series post-race show. NBCSN wraps up coverage at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with Victory Lap, NBC Sports Group’s NASCAR post-race show, originating from Stamford, Conn.

NBC Sports Group’s lead race announcer Rick Allen will call this weekend’s Monster Energy and XFINITY Series action, alongside Daytona 500 winning crew chief Steve Letarte, and “The Mayor” of NASCAR Jeff Burton.

Krista Voda will host pre- and post-race coverage alongside auto racing icon Kyle Petty, and Hall of Fame driver Dale Jarrett. Marty Snider, Kelli Stavast, Dave Burns and Parker Kligerman will report from pit road.

Features reporter Rutledge Wood will serve as the honorary pace car driver ahead of Saturday’s race, and give viewers an inside look at the pre-race festivities.

NBC Sports Group’s XFINITY Series coverage from Richmond begins Friday, with practice at 8 a.m. ET, available on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. XFINITY Series qualifying begins at 4 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Pre-race Countdown to Green coverage starts at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and race coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. A live on-site post-race show wraps up the evening at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

 

MOTORSPORTS

NBC Sports Group’s motorsports coverage this weekend features a wide variety of events, highlighted by more than 15 hours of Mecum Auctions coverage from Dallas on NBCSN, a pair of Red Bull Global RallyCross races from Seattle on NBC, and high-flying Red Bull Air Race action from Portugal on NBC.

NBCSN’s coverage of the 2017 Mecum Auctions season rolls into Dallas this weekend with more than 15 hours of coverage beginning Thursday at noon ET.

Scott Hoke will host NBCSN’s Mecum Auctions coverage on-site in Dallas, Texas, alongside analysts John Kraman, Stephen Cox, Bill Stephens, and reporter Katie Osborne. Mecum Auctions is led by Dana Mecum, Founder and President of Mecum Auctions for the past 29 years.

NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2017 Red Bull Global RallyCross Championship continues this weekend with the dual in Seattle on Saturday and Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

Leigh Diffey (play-by-play), Townsend Bell (analyst), and Will Christien (reporter) will call the action from Evergreen Speedway outside of Seattle, Wash.

The high-flying action of Red Bull Air Race comes to NBC this Sunday at 3 p.m. ET with coverage from their event in Portugal, which took place on the weekend of Sept. 2-3.

 

NOTRE DAME

NBC Sports presents a top-25 clash this Saturday in primetime on NBC at 7:30 p.m. ET featuring a pair of historic college football programs, when the No. 24 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0) host the No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs (1-0) in just the second-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Notre Dame Football on NBC commentary team is led by Mike Tirico, who begins his first full season as the voice of Notre Dame Football on NBC. He’ll be joined in the booth by Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, who serves as lead analyst for Notre Dame Football on NBC, and sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen.

Liam McHugh hosts studio coverage of Notre Dame Football on NBC, alongside former college and NFL quarterback Chris Simms, who makes his debut as a studio analyst for Notre Dame Football on NBC this season. McHugh and Simms will anchor pre-game, halftime, and post-game coverage on-site at Notre Dame Stadium for every game this season.

 

PREMIER LEAGUE

Following the international break, NBC Sports Group presents a full slate of Premier League matches this weekend, highlighted by Manchester City hosting Liverpool this Saturday, September 9, at 7:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN and Universo.

Saturday’s coverage begins at 6:30 a.m. ET with Premier League Live on NBCSN. Rebecca Lowe hosts the program, joined by former Jamaican National Team Player Robbie Earle and former Premier League footballer Robbie Mustoe.

Coverage continues Saturday at 10 a.m. ET with Arsenal v. Bournemouth on NBCSN and Universo, and Everton v. Tottenham Hotspur on CNBC. Also Saturday at 10 a.m. ET, NBC Sports Gold presents three exclusive matches with its “Premier League Pass:” Leicester City v. Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion v. VUELTA A ESPAÑA

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA concludes its coverage of the 2017 Vuelta a España – the final Grand Tour of the season on Sunday, September 10, in Madrid. Running from Tuesday, August 29, to Sunday, September 10, the Vuelta is made up of 21 stages, and will cover a total distance of more than 2,000 miles.

In addition, on September 10, at 9 a.m. ET, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and NBC Sports Gold will present coverage of the women’s Madrid Challenge, a one-day race through the streets of Madrid.

Paul Sherwen calls the race, joined by analyst and former professional cyclist Bob Roll.
