NBC Sports Notable Quotes
Dell Technologies Championship
Third Round

TPC Boston
Norton, Mass.

**Final round coverage of the Dell Technologies Championship will air Monday beginning at 11:30 am ET on Golf Channel and will continue at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBC**

On Justin Thomas, co-leader at 12-under par (8-under 63 on Sunday)
Jim “Bones” Mackay – “He is some kind of loose. He is talking about Alabama football and where he is going to stay at future tournaments. He is as loose as a goose.”
Johnny Miller – “You can fry a hot dog on that putter head.”
Peter Jacobsen – “All kinds of 3’s on his card today.”
Miller – “Played good tee to green, but the putter was out of this world great.”
Dan Hicks – “He lit up TPC Boston today.”
Miller – “He made every putt he looked at today.”

Justin Thomas speaking with NBC’s Steve Sands following his round
Justin Thomas – “I finally hit it well. It was nice. I was really patient going into today. I knew I didn’t have my best stuff and I drove it really nicely today. It was the best I’ve driven it since I can remember. It was crazy to think I played the par-5’s even par. That drives me crazy still but it was a great day in tough conditions, so I’m very pleased.”
Thomas – “I was really dialed in with my irons today. I hit some great iron shots.”
Thomas – “I never really got to enjoy it [The PGA Championship win]. I never celebrated and it never sunk in. It was three consecutive quick days of media, or even more than that, and then all of a sudden I was like, ‘Look, I have to get ready to play golf again, the Playoffs start the next week.’ It may have been the best thing that happened to me. Obviously I will enjoy the PGA and whatever else happens this offseason, but right now I am trying to play golf the best I can.”

Marc Leishman, co-leader at 12-under par (6-under 65 on Sunday) speaking with NBC’s Steve Sands following his round
Marc Leishman – “I drove the ball really well today. It is a lot easier game in conditions like this when you are on the fairway. Obviously the putter was pretty hot today. All of the chances you should make, I did and I rolled a really couple of long ones in too, and that makes a good round into a great round.”
Leishman – “This is where you want to be. When I came in on Tuesday, this was the plan – to try to give myself a chance to win. I’ve done that but there is a lot of golf between now and then giving out the trophy tomorrow afternoon. Whoever wins is really going to have to earn it and hopefully I can play well and give myself a good chance.”

On Phil Mickelson, T9 at 8-under par (2-under 69 on Sunday)
Jacobsen – “Phil Mickelson in my book is a lock for the Presidents Cup. He is that type of player, that type of an influence. Captains’ picks are for special people, you can’t get more special than this guy.”

Jordan Spieth (T4 at 10-under par, 5-under 66 on Sunday), speaking with NBC’s Steve Sands following his round
Jordan Spieth – “On this golf course, you have to make birdies. Normally in the rain, the scores are a little bit higher and you can get away with hitting in the middle of the green. But when Justin is shooting a 63, DJ right behind him with a 66 and the leaders are at 12-under and you are sitting there at 7 under, you have to force it a little bit. Fortunately it went the right way for me coming in. 17 and 18 were large, gave me a really good opportunity to go out tomorrow to shoot a similar score the last two days and possibly have a chance to win.”
Spieth – “I like it. The expectations are not there, you probably sleep just a little bit easier. Last week I held a three shot lead and I felt good. I felt good about things and about the way I played on Sunday. Just ran into a really strong DJ. Tomorrow I can go out and start firing at things and make birdies. If it doesn’t go well, then it doesn’t go well. But I can certainly play aggressive golf on what will be a receptive golf course.”
