On Saturday’s afternoon four-ball matches
Judy Rankin – “The people here have to be so stunned at the level of golf that they have seen today. They really do.”
Rankin – “You have to appreciate the golf that is on display today. Oh my gosh.”
Karen Stupples – “I am totally amazed at the quality of the golf I have witnessed today. I know I have only been watching this group but I hear it from all around the golf course. I don’t think I have ever been a part of or around a golf tournament where the quality has been this good.”
Rankin – “Europe better come out firing tomorrow on the first five matches to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Rankin – “I really think when the dust clears and everybody has left Des Moines, they are going to say how great the golf was.”
Rankin – “It is like an uphill climb for the Europeans. Every time they feel like they get to the top of the hill they slide back down.”
Stupples – “I really am at a bit of a loss for the quality of golf that I’ve seen played today.”

On Brittany Lang/Brittany Lincicome defeating Carlota Ciganda/Mel Reid 2UP
Jim Gallagher, Jr – “This is some of the best golf I have seen.”
Terry Gannon – “To start the way they did, they deserve this victory. They were so impressive today.”
Gallagher, Jr. – “These are two of the best days of golf I have seen in a long time.”

Brittany Lincicome and Brittany Lang speaking with Golf Channel’s Jim Gallagher, Jr. following their match
Brittany Lincicome – “It is incredible. When you hear the fans and you want to do good for them and you want to do good for the team and yourself. There are so many emotions. We got off to a good start today and it just seemed like the hole was the size of Texas. It made it a lot easier.”
Brittany Lang – “We calmed down. We took some time and took some breaths. I was not swinging at it super well today but you have to take some breaths and calm down because you can get super excited out here.”

On Anna Nordqvist/Jodi Ewart Shadoff defeated Lizette Salas/Angel Yin 4&2
Jerry Foltz – “I can’t say enough about how gutsy the performance of Anna Nordqvist has been today. Going two matches, playing great golf and doing it while admittedly being fatigued and not 100 percent yet.”
Foltz – “When she [Angel Yin] is on with that driver, she can completely overpower a golf course.”
Rankin – “I think she could be [Angel Yin, World No. 1]. I really do. She is not wildly swinging at the golf ball and hitting it a long way. She has a great golf swing. She has a wonderful move through the ball. She takes a certain joy in playing that you love to see with young people and she is only 18. What if she is 21 or 22 and she keeps developing all this.”

Anna Nordqvist and Jodi Ewart Shadoff speaking with Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz following their match
Jodi Ewart Shadoff – “There were lot of birdies out there, Not only between me and Anna but Lizette and Angel played great too. It was a lot of fun playing with Anna. We have very similar games and we were there for each other when we needed each other.”
Anna Nordqvist – “I was tired coming down the stretch but Jodi made some great birdies and gave me some diet coke to keep me going, Very excited. We played great today and I was happy to have Jodi as my partner and put that point on the board.”

On Paula Creamer/Austin Ernst defeating Karine Icher/Madelene Sagstrom 2&1
Arron Oberholser – “Something about the Solheim Cup brings Paula alive.”
Oberholser – “Today a totally different human being for Austin Ernst. She came out aggressive and firing on all cylinders.”

On Cristie Kerr/Lexi Thompson defeating Georgia Hall/Catriona Matthew 4&2
Rankin – “This 21 year old is another one you are going to see a lot of in the next decade. Georgia Hall is the real deal and very composed”
Stupples – “Kerr and Lexi have turned it on like nobody’s business today. Yesterday they were a little out of sorts, but today they found something, and it has been impressive.”
Rankin – “When all is said and done, Georgia Hall is going to realize that she played every match, played her heart out and played so much good golf.”

Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson speaking with Golf Channel’s Karen Stupples following their match
Lexi Thompson – “It is incredible. We have been partners for about a year now, since International Crown last year. It has been unbelievable. She walks everything in, makes bunker shots. I feel like I played pretty good today and she played outstanding. She is just an animal out there.”
Cristie Kerr – “We just knew they were going to play really tough and they did. They made a lot of birdies. They stuffed it on some holes that I had to make putts on top of them. Lexi had to make putts on top of them. We really ham and egged it well out there today.”
