NBCSN PRESENTS MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES RACING FROM MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY SUNDAY, AUGUST 13, AT 3 P.M. ET

 XFINITY Series Racing from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course – Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN

Joey Logano Joins NASCAR America from NASCAR Hall of Fame – Tonight at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN

STAMFORD, Conn.August 9, 2017 – NBC Sports Group swings into its seventh week of live 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and XFINITY Series racing, with over 17 hours of trackside coverage from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, Ohio, and Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn, Mich. NBC Sports Group’s race coverage begins Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with XFINITY Series racing from Mid-Ohio’s road course, and culminates Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series racing from the Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan.

 

After a thrilling finish at Watkins Glen International last weekend, Martin Truex Jr. secured his first Cup Series win at the historic road course, and made his fourth trip to victory lane in 2017. With the win, Truex Jr. continues to hold his first-place position atop the 2017 Cup Series Playoff standings (4 wins, 34 playoff-points), followed by Jimmie Johnson (3 wins, 16 playoff-points), Kyle Busch (1 win, 14 playoff-points), Kyle Larson (2 wins, 13 playoff-points), and Brad Keselowski (2 wins, 13 playoff-points). With only four races left before the Playoffs begin, Chase Elliott, Jamie McMurray and Matt Kenseth, currently hold the three remaining spots in the Playoffs based on points, but have yet to secure a race win to guarantee their positions.

 

In addition to live television coverage on NBCSN, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs – will provide comprehensive streaming coverage of this weekend’s NASCAR action.

 

MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES RACING FROM MICHIGAN – SUNDAY AT 3 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

 

NBC Sports Group kicks off its Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series coverage from Michigan International Speedway, this Friday at 11:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN, with first practice, followed by qualifying at 5 p.m. ET. Saturday’s coverage begins with second practice at 8:30 a.m. ET on CNBC, followed by final practice at 11:30 a.m. ET. Both practice sessions will be available on NBCsports.com and the NBC Sports app.

 

Sunday’s race day coverage begins at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with NASCAR America, and leads into NBC Sports Group’s pre-race show, Countdown to Green, at 2:30 p.m. ET. Pre-race coverage includes a live on-set interview with Michigan native, and driver of Team Penske’s No. 2 Ford, Brad Keselowski, as well as a special feature on fellow Michigander, Erik Jones.

 

NASCAR Cup Series racing begins at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and is followed by a live on-site NASCAR Cup Series post-race show. NBCSN wraps up coverage at 6:30 p.m. ET, with Victory Lap, NBC Sports Group’s NASCAR post-race show, originating from Stamford, Conn.

 

NBC Sports’ new BatCam camera system, which NASCAR on NBC debuted in July at Daytona International Speedway, returns this weekend to help showcase the epic 200 plus mph speeds at Michigan International Speedway.

 

Veteran NBC Sports Group motorsports announcer Leigh Diffey (@leighdiffey) will serve as the play-by-play commentator for this weekend’s NASCAR coverage, while lead NASCAR race announcer Rick Allen (@Rickallenracing) is on assignment for NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the IAAF World Track & Field Championships. In addition to his NASCAR role, Diffey is also the voice of NBC Sports Group’s coverage of F1 and IndyCar, and serves as a play-by-play announcer for NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. Daytona 500 winning crew chief Steve Letarte (@steveletarte), and “The Mayor” of NASCAR Jeff Burton (@Jeffburton), will join Diffey to call the race.

 

Krista Voda (@KristaVoda) will host pre- and post-race coverage alongside auto racing icon Kyle Petty (@Kylepetty), and Hall of Fame driver Dale Jarrett (@DaleJarrett). Marty Snider (@HeyMartysnider), Kelli Stavast (@Kellistavast) and Dave Burns (@tvdaveburns) will report from pit road. In addition, features reporter Rutledge Wood (@rutledgewood) will explore Southeastern Michigan, including the University of Michigan’s campus.

 

XFINITY SERIES COVERAGE FROM MID-OHIO – SATURDAY AT 3:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

 

NBC Sports Group’s XFINITY Series coverage from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course begins this Friday, with first practice at 2 p.m. ET, followed by final practice at 4 p.m. ET. Coverage of both practice sessions will be available on NBCsports.com and the NBC Sports app. Coverage continues Saturday, with XFINITY Series qualifying at 12 p.m. ET on CNBC. Pre-race Countdown to Green coverage starts at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Race coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

 

Dave Burns and Dale Jarrett pull a traveling doubleheader this weekend, as the pair call the XFINITY action from Mid-Ohio on Saturday afternoon, before heading up to Michigan for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race. JOEY LOGANO JOINS NASCAR AMERICA FROM NASCAR HALL OF FAME – TONIGHT AT 5 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

 

Tonight at 5 p.m. ET on NASCAR America, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Joey Logano will join host Krista Voda, analysts Kyle Petty and Dale Jarrett from the Glory Road at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, in Charlotte, N.C.

 

The driver of Team Penske’s No. 22 Ford will discuss his 2017 season, the push for playoff contention over the next four races, and the recent announcement that he and his wife Brittany are expecting their first child in January.

 

As part of NBCSN’s comprehensive coverage of the 2017 NASCAR season, NASCAR America will present a live show each week from the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Each live episode will include an in-depth interview with an active driver, and highlight their journey to professional racing.

In 2017, NBC Sports Group will present the final 20 NASCAR Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races, final 19 NASCAR XFINITY Series events and select NASCAR Regional & Touring Series events.
