Video: Lexi Thompson Speaking to Cara Robinson on her Second Round

On Lexi Thompson, early 2nd round co-leader at 9-under par (4-under 68 on Friday)
Karen Stupples – “She is really on a roll.”
Tom Abbott – “A terrific two days of golf for Lexi.”
Stupples – “A fantastic back-nine 30 for Lexi.”
Stupples – “It’s funny when you get on rolls of birdies like she has, it feels like you can aim anywhere on the green and the ball is going to find a way to get to the bottom of the cup.”
Stupples – “This isn’t a surprise for anybody watching that we see Lexi making her way to the top of the leaderboard. She has been there most of the year. Always in contention.”
Stupples – “She is the best driver of the ball out here, in terms of distance and accuracy. It is very unusual to have somebody hit the ball so far and be as accurate as she is with the driver.”

Lexi Thompson speaking with Golf Channel’s Cara Robinson following her round
Lexi Thompson – “I definitely enjoyed the back nine rather than my first few holes. I had a little bit of a slow start but I hit it great the whole day and I knew it was a matter of time before I was going to make a few birdies, and I just got on a roll there.”
Thompson – “I’m going to get a little work out in this afternoon and then just make sure I relax and be ready for tomorrow. I didn’t get too much sleep last night with the quick turnaround. But just focus on relaxing tonight and get a good night’s rest.”

On Mo Martin, 7-under par after two rounds (5-under par 67 on Friday)
Rich Lerner – “She is a dreamer and she is a fighter. There is something really appealing about her. She could be a really good team member for Juli Inkster.”

Mo Martin (7-under par for the championship), speaking with Cara Robinson
Mo Martin – “I think overall we lucked out with the weather so far. There are clouds all over. Looks a little grey and patchy. I was in two of the delays yesterday. I don’t remember a day where I’ve had two delays and been on the course that long. Overall, I think we’ve been pretty lucky with the wind and the rain. A little bit of a different wind today. It was coming out of the north and going towards the coastline. It plays the most difficult going that way. Overall, a great golf course, love the way it is designed, love the views. I’m just very happy to be here.”
Martin – “I’ve had friends at different times of my life predict that I would win this tournament. When I was just a scrappy kid playing on public golf courses they said that. I don’t know, there’s something about it. History has been writing itself. I’m enjoying the ride and still dreaming.”

On Georgia Hall, early 2nd round co-leader at 9-under par (5-under 67 on Friday)
Karen Stupples – “She obviously has a good feel for these greens and this golf course.”
Maureen Madill – “I really like this girl’s action. It is simple, uncomplicated. She creates a lot of speed through the ball and she seems unflustered all of the time.”
Abbott – “A really good two days of work for Georgia Hall.”

Georgia Hall speaking with Golf Channel’s Cara Robinson following her round
Georgia Hall – “I played really well both days. I actually felt like I played better yesterday. I made less mistakes, but I managed to get some really crucial birdies, especially on the back nine. So, I’m very happy.”
Hall – “My dad caddied for me a bit last year when I was an amateur. He is always nice to chuck opinions around and it is always fun to have your dad on the bag, so it is a good combination.
Hall – “I felt a little bit nervous on the last few holes, I’m not going to lie. I played well. I’ve had a really good year. The last few months have been really important for me for Solheim Cup rankings and Order of Merit so I hope I can carry it on into the weekend.”

On Jodi Ewart Shadoff, 7-under par after two rounds (2-under 70 on Friday)
Stupples – “Very controlled swing, which is very important for links golf.”
Stupples – “I can’t tell just you how brilliant it is for a player from the U.K. to play well in this event. You know that the crowds and the fans are all behind you. And for the most part, it is the one chance that your family has to actually watch you play.”
Rich Lerner – “She is right there heading into the weekend. Maybe this will be her week.”

Jodi Ewart Shadoff speaking with Golf Channel’s Cara Robinson
Ewart Shadoff – “The conditions were not the easiest out there today. A little shift in the wind from yesterday but yes, 17, it could have very easily turned into a nightmare for me. So, just tried to stay patient and control my emotions there a little bit. I managed to hole a nice putt for bogey.”
Ewart Shadoff – “It is great to have family come and watch, which is amazing. Historically I have never played well around links golf. This is my second cut made at the British Open so it is nice to be playing the weekend.”

Charley Hull (5-under par after two rounds) speaking with Golf Channel’s Cara Robinson following her round
Charley Hull – “I’m quite pleased with it. The couple of bogeys that I started with, I hit good puts but they just died out towards the hole and lipped out. But I’m happy with the way I played today and still left a few out there but not too bad.”
Hull – “I’m going to go and practice a little bit, go to the gym, get a little physio and eat loads of food.”

On Kingsbarns Golf Links
Maureen Madill – “The players have been raving about this golf course. In fact, there only has been one complaint as far as I’ve heard, and that is that it is hard to focus on the game because the views are so spectacular. That is a very nice problem to have”
Stupples – “There is a definite difference in playing links golf. You get some really tough playing conditions on Links. You can go out in nice weather and have to come back in in terrible conditions. And you can get some bad bounces. You can get some bad lies. But that is the challenge of it. That is golf throwing everything it has at you. If you can overcome that mentally, then you can take a sense of pride and achievement away from that.”
