NASCAR

NBC Sports Group shifts into its sixth week of live 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and XFINITY Series racing, with 15 hours of trackside coverage from historic Watkins Glen International, in Watkins Glen, N.Y. NBC Sports Group’s coverage, from its first road course race of 2017, begins Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with XFINITY Series racing, and culminates Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series racing.

NBC Sports Group kicks off its Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series coverage from Watkins Glen International this Saturday at 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN, with first practice. A 30-minute edition of NASCAR America will air at noon ET on NBCSN, followed by final practice at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Sunday’s coverage begins with qualifying at noon ET on NBCSN. A special 90-minute edition of NASCAR America kicks off at 1 p.m. ET, and leads into NBC Sports Group’s pre-race show, Countdown to Green, at 2:30 p.m. ET. NASCAR Cup Series racing begins at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and is followed by a live on-site NASCAR Cup Series post-race show. NBCSN wraps up coverage at 6:30 p.m. ET, with Victory Lap, NBC Sports Group’s NASCAR post-race show, originating from Stamford, Conn.

NBC Sports Group’s XFINITY Series coverage from Watkins Glen begins this Friday, with first practice at noon ET, followed by final practice at 2:30 p.m. ET. Coverage of both practice sessions will be available on NBCsports.com and the NBC Sports app. Coverage continues Saturday, with XFINITY Series qualifying at 11 a.m. ET on NBCSN. Pre-race Countdown to Green coverage starts at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Race coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and is followed by a live on-site NASCAR XFINITY Series post-race show.

Veteran NBC Sports Group motorsports announcer Leigh Diffey will serve as the play-by-play commentator for this weekend’s NASCAR coverage and will be joined by Steve Letarte and Jeff Burton.

Krista Voda will host pre- and post-race coverage alongside auto racing icon Kyle Petty, and Hall of Fame driver Dale Jarrett. Marty Snider, Kelli Stavast, Dave Burns and Parker Kligerman will report from pit road. In addition, features reporter Rutledge Wood will explore the racing history of Watkins Glen, and bring viewers closer to the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.

NBCSN will present Kyle & Rut’s Racing Roots: Clint Bowyer, a 30-minute special chronicling eight-time NASCAR Cup Series winner Clint Bowyer’s road to professional racing, and the hometown where his journey began, this Sunday, August 6, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Kyle & Rut’s Racing Roots will air immediately following NBCSN’s coverage of Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race from Watkins Glen International.

Hosted by auto racing icon and NASCAR on NBC analyst Kyle Petty, and NASCAR on NBC’s resident automobile aficionado Rutledge Wood, the NBC Sports original program gives fans an in-depth look at Bowyer’s start in motorsports, as well as the people, experiences, and hometown that made it all possible.

 

IAAF WORLD TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Usain Bolt will compete in the final meet of his illustrious career as NBC Sports Group presents nearly 100 hours of 2017 IAAF World Track & Field Championships coverage from London, England. An eight-time Olympic gold medalist, Bolt will run in the men’s 100m opening heats this today, August 4, with live coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. The men’s 100m final will air within NBC’s live coverage of the event this Saturday, August 5, beginning at 3 p.m. ET. Bolt is also expected to be part of Jamaica’s team for the 4x100m relay, which will air within NBC’s live coverage next Saturday, August 12, also beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

NBCSN begins coverage of the event Friday at 7 p.m. ET, continuing Saturday live at 5 a.m. ET. Coverage of the event continues throughout the week on NBC, NBCSN and Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, culminating on Sunday, August 13.

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will also present two Usain Bolt specials hosted by NBC Sports Group’s Mike Tirico today. The first will feature all of Bolt’s World Championship wins from 2009-15 at 7 p.m. ET, while the second features all of his Olympic victories from 2008-16 at 10 p.m. ET.

Rick Allen calls the action on NBC, the evening sessions on NBCSN, and the Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA’s coverage Friday, August 11 at 2 p.m. ET. He will be joined by analyst Ato Boldon, analyst Craig Masback and reporters Lewis Johnson and Todd Harris. Bill Doleman calls the morning sessions on NBCSN, joined by a combination of Kellie Wells, Josh Cox and Manteo Mitchell. Rob Walker, Steve Ovett and Katharine Merry call the action for coverage on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

 

FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA continues coverage of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships from Vienna, Austria, this weekend. Coverage of the medal round matches will be presented live on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Chris Marlowe (play-by-play) and Kevin Wong (analyst) will provide commentary for this week’s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships coverage.

 

FIVB WORLD GRAND PRIX WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA provides live coverage of the FIVB World Grand Prix Women’s Volleyball from Beijing, China. The semifinal round of matches begins this Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.

Paul Sunderland (play-by-play) and Kevin Barnett (analyst) will provide commentary of this weekend’s FIVB World Grand Prix coverage.

 

HORSE RACING

Led by Multiple graded stakes winner Gun Runner, a top field of seven older horses is set for the 1 1/8 mile, $1.2 million Whitney this Saturday, August 5, at 5 p.m. ET on the live NBC broadcast from Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The one-hour program, which will also include the Longines Test Stakes, is a part of the “Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series: Win and You’re In – Presented by Lane’s End Farm and America’s Best Racing.”

Bobby Flay joins the NBC broadcast for the first time as a racing analyst and handicapper. Flay will be joined on the broadcast by host Krista Voda, analyst Jerry Bailey, analyst Randy Moss, and reporter Laffit Pincay III. Daily Racing Form’s Matt Bernier will also serve as a Handicapper.

 

GOLF

Golf Channel and NBC will air 28 live hours of tournament coverage throughout the week, the most ever in women’s major championship history. The Golf Channel present live coverage on Saturday at 7 a.m. and Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET and NBC will provide live coverage on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Calling the action for NBC from Scotland is host Scott Walker, Tom Abbott and Rich Lerner (play-by-play), analysts Karen Stupples and Judy Rankin, and Jerry Foltz and Karen Stupples on the course with Cara Robinson conducting interviews.

The Golf Channel presents live coverage of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET and Saturday and Sunday at 12 p.m. ET. Calling the action from Akron, Ohio is Terry Gannon (play-by-play), analyst Nick Faldo, Matt Gogel and Gary McCord (tower), and Arron Oberholser on the course with Steve Burkowski on the course.

The Golf Channel presents live coverage of the PGA Tour Champions: 3M Championship on Friday at 9 p.m. ET and Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m. ET. Calling the action from Blaine, Minnesota is Bob Papa (play-by-play), analyst Justin Leonard, and Curt Byrum and Jim Gallagher (tower) with Kay Cockerill and John Cook on the course.

The Golf Channel presents live coverage of the Barracuda Championship on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET and Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.
