NBC Sports Gold to Present Bonus Coverage of Field Events

STAMFORD, Conn. – August 1, 2017 – Usain Bolt will compete in the final meet of his illustrious career as NBC Sports Group presents nearly 100 hours of 2017 IAAF World Track & Field Championships coverage from London, England. An eight-time Olympic gold medalist, Bolt will run in the men’s 100m opening heats this Friday, August 4, with live coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. The men’s 100m final will air within NBC’s live coverage of the event this Saturday, August 5, beginning at 3 p.m. ET. Bolt is also expected to be part of Jamaica’s team for the 4x100m relay, which will air within NBC’s live coverage next Saturday, August 12, also beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

NBCSN begins coverage of the event Friday at 7 p.m. ET, continuing Saturday live at 5 a.m. ET. Coverage of the event continues throughout the week on NBC, NBCSN and Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, culminating on Sunday, August 13.

The IAAF World Track & Field Championships will be streamed via authentication on NBCSports.com, OlympicChannel.com, the NBC Sports app, and the Olympic Channel app, as well as with a subscription to NBC Sports Gold’s “Track and Field Pass.” As part of its coverage, NBC Sports Gold will present exclusive bonus coverage of field events, highlights, replays.

The U.S. squad is headlined by four reigning world champions and eight 2016 Olympic individual gold medalists. Returning to defend their 2015 individual world titles are six-time Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix in the women’s 400m, three-time gold medalist Tianna Bartoletta in the women’s long jump, Olympic silver medalist Joe Kovacs in the men’s shot put, and two-time gold medalist Christian Taylor in the men’s triple jump.

Team USA is also headlined by reigning Olympic champion Matthew Centrowitz in the men’s 1500m, three-time Olympic medalist Kerron Clement in the men’s 400m hurdles, and three-time Olympic gold medalist LaShawn Merritt in the men’s 400m.

Olympic gold medalists from the 2016 Rio Games who will compete in London for the U.S. also include Michelle Carter in the women’s shot put; Jeff Henderson in the men’s long jump; Dalilah Muhammad in the women’s 400m hurdles; and Ryan Crouser in the men’s shot put. 2012 Olympic women’s pole vault gold medalist Jenn Suhr returns to London, while Taylor revisits the site of the first of his two Olympic triple jump golds.

Other international stars in action include two Rio 400m gold medalists both looking to complete the 200m-400m double: South African Wayde van Niekerk and Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas.

Rick Allen calls the action on NBC, the evening sessions on NBCSN, and the Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA’s coverage Friday, August 11 at 2 p.m. ET. He will be joined by analyst and four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon, analyst Craig Masback and reporters Lewis Johnson and Todd Harris. Bill Doleman calls the morning sessions on NBCSN, joined by a combination of Kellie Wells, Josh Cox and Manteo Mitchell. Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will also present two Usain Bolt specials hosted by NBC Sports Group’s Mike Tirico this Friday.
