Chella Choi (5-under par 66 after her opening round) speaking with Golf Channel’s Steve Sands after her opening round
Chella Choi – “My putting was very good today. This golf course is in very good condition. My shots were very good today. Very hard golf course, but today I made a lot of birdies, so, easy golf today.”

On Michelle Wie, 3-under par 68 on her opening round
Mark Rolfing – “I’ve never seen Michelle Wie play this kind of golf, this controlled-fade golf. I’ve been watching her since she was nine and this is a totally new plan to see her like this.”
Gary Koch –“I spoke with David Leadbetter on Tuesday and I asked him what is with these different grips. He said, ‘I call it the whatever method.’ As Michelle gets over the ball, she starts with one grip and if it doesn’t feel right, she changes.”
Karen Stupples – “She is so much fun to watch because of her star power.”
Tom Abbott – “She is playing very, very well. Whatever she is doing, it is working.”
Rolfing – “This has been a very impressive round. All aspects of her game are fabulous. Walking around with the people, there is a definite buzz that you get with Michelle Wie when she is playing like this that you really don’t get with any other player.”
Dan Hicks – “Just seems to be hitting on all cylinders with every club in her bag.”
Koch – “I like the fact that this putting style, there is no rhyme or reason to it. It is feel. For the longest time, we’ve said that Michelle is not playing by feel, that she is too mechanical. I like this change.”

Michelle Wie speaking with Golf Channel’s Steve Sands following her round
Michelle Wie – “I had a lot of fun. In tough conditions, I had a great group. A really fun group today. It was tough out there but you kind of have to laugh off your mistakes a little bit out there a little bit. It is a tough golf course.”

Wie speaking with Sands on changing her putting grips during her round
Michelle –
“I literally just go and say, ‘this feels right’ and just I go with it. It is kind of a whatever thing. I’m not really thinking too much into it.”

On Brooke Henderson, 3-under par 68 after her opening round
Stupples – “She has as much fire and fight in her as anybody else out here. Jerry Foltz calls her the ‘smiling assassin’.

Brooke Henderson speaking with Golf Channel’s Steve Sands following her round
Brooke Henderson – “3-under day. I got hot on the back nine and I’m just going to take it one day at a time and see what happens. I’m in a great spot right know so we’ll see what happens.”

Su Oh (3-under par 68 on her opening round) speaking with Golf Channel’s Steve Sands
Su Oh – “It was extremely difficult. It was windy from the very beginning. I got off to a really good start. I didn’t play bad on the last nine holes, I actually think I played quite well. Par is a good score out there, so I think I made the most of my 7:40 am tee time. It was still pretty windy when I went out. Just a tough day in general.”
