NORTHWEST CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS’ 1977 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP MONDAY AT 6 P.M. PT

4.5-Hour Primetime Special Includes Full Replay of 1977 NBA Finals Game 6

Special Guests Include 1977 NBA Championship Team Members Larry Steele and Bob Gross - Plus Legendary Broadcaster Brent Musburger

PORTLAND, Ore. June 2, 2017 — CSN Northwest honors the 40th anniversary of the Portland Trail Blazers’ 1977 NBA Championship with 4.5 hours of primetime coverage this Monday, June 5, beginning at 6 p.m. PT. Monday marks 40 years to the day that Rip City became home of the NBA Champions, and gave Portland its first professional championship.

Coverage kicks off at 6 p.m. PT with a special edition of CSN’s Trail Blazers pregame show, Courtside, hosted by the Trail Blazers’ radio play-by-play announcer Brian Wheeler and former Trail Blazers player and analyst Michael Holton. Special guests from the 1977 Championship team include guard-forward Larry Steele and guard Bob Gross.

CSN Northwest relives June 5, 1977, a euphoric day in Portland history, on Monday, June 5, at 7 p.m. PT, with a full replay of Game 6 of the 1977 NBA Finals. The Cinderella season saw the Blazers win four games in a row to overcome a 2-0 deficit and defeat “Dr. J” Julius Erving and the Philadelphia 76ers to win the 1977 NBA title. The replay features interspersed commentary from Rip City Live host Dan Sheldon and commentator Dwight Jaynes.

A special edition of CSN’s Trail Blazers postgame show, Talkin’ Ball, immediately follows the replay at 9:30 p.m. PT. Sheldon and Jaynes host the program alongside Portland Tribune columnist Kerry Eggers, plus broadcasting legend and play-by-play announcer for the 1977 NBA finals, Brent Musburger. The hour-long special analyzes the magical season led by Bill Walton and Trail Blazers head coach Jack Ramsay.
