STAMFORD, Conn. – May 26, 2017 – The Pittsburgh Penguins will face the Nashville Predators in the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. Game 1 will take place on Monday, May 29, at 8 p.m. ET, on NBC at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa. Pre-game coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN with a two-hour edition of NHL Live.
The defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins advanced to the Stanley Cup Final with a dramatic 3-2 double-overtime win on Thursday night on NBCSN in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Ottawa Senators – the first time a Game 7 required double overtime since 1994. Pittsburgh’s Chris Kunitz scored the game-winning goal 5:05 in into the second overtime, his second goal of the game, after 34 consecutive games without a goal.
Following are post-game quotes following Thursday night’s Game 7:
Analyst Eddie Olczyk on Game 7: “This was an epic Game 7. Give the tip of a couple of hockey helmets to the Ottawa Senators. Not a lot of people gave them an opportunity to even be in this situation. Here they were in a Game 7…this was a tremendous series.”
Play-by-play commentator Mike “Doc” Emrick: “You would probably imagine that there were a few of the Predators sitting there at the end of the first overtime saying, ‘Go ahead, play on boys, keep it going.’”
Olczyk on the upcoming Predators-Penguins Stanley Cup Final: “We could see another series that goes the distance.”
Nashville advanced to its first Stanley Cup Final in franchise history on Monday night with a 6-3 win against the Anaheim Ducks in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final, led by Colton Sissons’ hat trick.
Following is the full telecast schedule for the 2017 Stanley Cup Final with networks and start times. Pre-game coverage will begin each night with NHL Live at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
