SportsEngine and PGA Junior League Golf Extend Partnership to Help Grow Participation in Youth Golf

MINNEAPOLIS (May 25, 2017) – SportsEngine, a division of NBC Sports Group, has announced a multi-year extension of its partnership agreement with PGA Junior League Golf. Through increased access to registration technology and dedicated professional support, SportsEngine will continue to aid PGA Junior League Golf in its efforts to grow youth golf.

For the past three years, SportsEngine has provided PGA Junior League Golf with a robust registration platform, which allows local PGA and LPGA Professionals to register their programs with and become approved by the League, as well as collect sign ups from parents online. The entire platform is fully integrated and easy to use for PGA Junior League Golf Captains and parents alike. In addition, PGA Junior League Golf will continue to use Sitebuilder, SportsEngine’s website content management system, to provide education and promote programs across the country.

“We’re very proud to have been a partner in the PGA of America’s grassroots efforts of achieving record participation in PGA Junior League Golf,” said Justin Kaufenberg, Chief Executive Officer at SportsEngine. “With this new multi-year extension of our partnership, we’re making a commitment to expanding the registration, website, league and team management, background screening, scoring, and communications tools that have been an important part of growing PGA Junior League Golf.”

“We are excited to continue our partnership with SportsEngine to provide the most up-to-date technology, tools and resources for our PGA and LPGA Professionals leading PGA Junior League teams,” said PGA of America Chief Commercial Officer Jeff Price. “Kids are undoubtedly the future of our sport, so it’s incredibly important to invest in them through programs like PGA Junior League Golf.”

In addition to the technology and professional service partnership, SportsEngine will be providing media inventory to promote the PGA Junior League Golf across NBC Sports assets, including digital advertising, and television and radio inventory.

Since partnering with SportsEngine, PGA Junior League Golf has seen record participation, with 36,000 participants across 2,900 teams nationwide in 2016, led by more than 2,000 Captains. This growth represents a 300-percent increase from the 9,000 kids who participated on 740 teams nationwide just three years prior.

PGA Junior League Golf offers boys and girls – ages 13 and under of all abilities – a fun, social and inclusive opportunity to learn and play golf in a recreational team setting with their friends. Much like other recreational youth sports, kids wear numbered jerseys, utilizing a popular scramble format for competition. PGA and LPGA Professionals serve exclusively as Captains, providing kids with expert coaching and instruction.

The 2017 season of PGA Junior League Golf is underway, and registration is still open in certain areas of the country. For more information, visit PGAJLG.com.
