NBC SPORTS GROUP TO PROVIDE MORE THAN 100 HOURS OF 2017 WORLD CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS COVERAGE

World Women’s Curling Championship From Beijing Begins Friday at 1 a.m. ET Live on Universal HD – Team USA vs. Scotland in Pool Play

World Men’s Curling Championship From Edmonton Begins Saturday, April 1 at 9 p.m. ET Live on NBCSN – Team USA vs. Switzerland in Pool Play

NBCSN to Present Coverage of World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship – New Olympic Event – April 27-29

STAMFORD, Conn. – March 15, 2017 – NBC Sports Group will present comprehensive coverage of the 2017 World Curling Championships over the next month, totaling more than 100 hours of coverage, including more than 80 live hours, across NBCSN, Universal HD, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.

The World Women’s Curling Championship will take place March 17-26 in Beijing, China, while the World Men’s Curling Championship will be held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and will take place April 1-9.

In addition to the World Women’s and Men’s Curling Championships, NBCSN will also present coverage of the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, on April 27-29. Mixed doubles curling will make its Olympic debut at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games.

Live coverage of the World Women’s Curling Championship begins Friday at 1 a.m. ET on Universal HD, when Team USA faces Scotland in their first match of pool play.

NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming platforms for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs – will provide comprehensive streaming of the World Curling Championships.

Jason Knapp (play-by-play), Steve Schlanger (play-by-play), 2006 Olympic bronze medalist Pete Fenson (analyst), and 2010 Olympic gold medalist Kevin Martin (analyst) will combine to provide commentary throughout the 2017 World Curling Championships.

WORLD WOMEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP – MARCH 17-26

Team USA is led by skip Nina Roth along with Tabitha Peterson (vice skip), Aileen Geving (second), Becca Hamilton (lead), and Cory Christensen (alternate). Last year, Team USA finished sixth at the World Women’s Curling Championships in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada. Switzerland is the three-time defending champion.

WORLD MEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP – APRIL 1-9

The Team USA men’s team at the World Men’s Curling Championship will be led by 2006 Olympic bronze medalist and three-time Olympian John Shuster. Shuster and his rink of Tyler George (third), Matt Hamilton (second), John Landsteiner (lead), and Joe Polo (alternate) hope to build off of their bronze medal win at the 2016 World Men’s Curling Championship in Switzerland.

WORLD MIXED DOUBLES CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP – APRIL 27-29 ON NBCSN

NBCSN will present coverage of the World Mixed Doubled Curling Championship on April 27-29, immediately following live coverage of the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. The brother-sister tandem of Matt Hamilton and Becca Hamilton will represent Team USA in Lethbridge in April. Times for those telecasts following Stanley Cup Playoff coverage will be determined at a later date
