NOTABLE QUOTES: VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP, NBC’S SATURDAY THIRD ROUND – ADAM HADWIN LEADS BY 4

NBC Sports Notable Quotes
Valspar Championship
Saturday, March 11, 2017 (Third Round)
Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club, Copperhead Course
Palm Harbor, Florida

On Adam Hadwin, third-round leader at 14-under under par
Gary Koch – “He is playing really exceptional golf. He has now played his last 31 holes on this golf course – a very difficult golf course – 11 birdies and no bogeys during that stretch. You can’t do that on this golf course unless you are hitting on all cylinders. Everything has to be going well.”
David Feherty – “He is making everything he is looking at.”
Feherty – “Adam Hadwin is on fire.”
Dan Hicks – “The sun is shining on Adam Hadwin’s shoulders.”
Roger Maltbie – “You get the impression that these two leave [Hadwin and his caddie Joe Cruz] very little to the imagination. They discuss everything to the minute detail. And at times, quite lengthy.”
Hicks – “He did not hurry the routine. He seems relaxed. He has got his caddie Joe Cruz and they are in cruise control with a 4-shot lead.”

Adam Hadwin speaking with NBC’s Steve Sands following his third round
Adam Hadwin – “I felt really good on the golf course. I think maybe some nerves when I first hit the putting green knowing the situation I’m in right now. Kind of got over that pretty quickly. Hit a great drive and a great 3-wood and 2-putted for birdie on the start. So I calmed myself down right away.”
Hadwin – “If I can have a chance coming down to the 18th hole, I am going to be really happy with the way I played. Whether I’ll be 5-under or 2-over at that point, I just want a chance to win. It is nice having a little bit of a cushion going into tomorrow. Just keep hitting the ball solid, keep hitting a ton of fairways like I am. And the putter is rolling pretty good right now.”
Hadwin – “Every single shot matters. It doesn’t matter whether it is the first tee ball on Thursday or the last putt on Sunday. I’ve really learned that the last couple of years. I’ve been proud of myself for grinding things out. Just got to go that tomorrow.”

On Patrick Cantlay, 2nd place at 10-under par after Saturday’s third round
Hicks – “What a way to finish up for Patrick Cantlay.”
Hicks – “Talk about a feel good story.”
Peter Jacobsen – “I’m looking for big things with Patrick. He feels good. Watch for some magic tomorrow.”
