SNY OPENS ITS DOORS TO NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART STUDIO FACILITY AT 4 WORLD TRADE CENTER

Network To Begin Coverage From New Broadcast Home Saturday, March 4th With GEICO SportsNite

[New York, March 3, 2017] – SNY, the official television home of the New York Mets, Jets and all things New York Sports, will debut its expansive state-of-the-art studio facility located at the network’s new headquarters at 4 World Trade Center tomorrow, March 4th at 10:30 p.m. with its nightly news and entertainment program GEICO SportsNite.  The sprawling production space, located high above the city on the 50th floor, totals 26,856 square feet and features three fully independent studios, two control rooms and stunning 360-degree views of the city.  SNY’s corporate offices will occupy the 49th floor.

“As we began to look at prospective new locations, the downtown area and 4 World Trade Center topped our list,” said Steve Raab, SNY president.  “We immediately felt the neighborhood’s vibrancy, envisioned the space’s potential and, after careful planning and execution over the past year, we are thrilled with the final results. We look forward to tomorrow night’s first broadcast and the start of an exciting new chapter at SNY.”

“From the production side, our space is world-class, equipped with the latest and most advanced broadcast technology you will find anywhere in the industry,” says Curt Gowdy, Jr., SNY senior vice president of production & executive producer.  “The equipment combined with built-in studio, set and design flexibility allows us endless opportunities to create more interesting and compelling content for our viewers.”

The production facility is tailored with technology from industry leaders Grass Valley, SSL, Evertz and Ross Video to provide the highest level of available performance. The three studios, designed by Jack Morton, encompass 3,700 square feet and combine for dozens of varying set locations utilizing 50 monitors and unparalleled 360-degree views courtesy of rooftop cameras atop both World Trade Center Buildings 4 and 7.

STUDIO 41, named after Mets Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver, will serve as the network’s lead baseball studio, televising SNY’s award-winning Mets and Major League Baseball coverage.  The 1,700 square foot studio is designed to complement Citi Field with its visual cues and textures, acting as an extension of the ballpark.  Mets Pre-Game Live, Mets Post-Game Live, Mets Talk Live, Mets Hot Stove and Baseball Night in New York will broadcast from STUDIO 41.

STUDIO 31, in honor of Mets Hall of Famer catcher Mike Piazza, will carry a wide array of SNY’s popular programming, including dedicated New York Jets and UConn Huskies coverage, as well as the network’s news and entertainment series such as GEICO SportsNite, Daily News Live and Loud Mouths.  The multi-purpose studio is designed for color flexibility to accommodate various sets, allowing for the use of LED lights to accent the space with Jets’ green, Huskies’ blue or an additional color scheme to suit every need.

STUDIO 42, named after Brooklyn Dodgers legend Jackie Robinson, is fitted with amazing views of Brooklyn and the East River.  STUDIO 42 will carry SNY’s breaking news and provide an unparalleled backdrop for the network’s exclusive one-on-one sit-down interviews.
