U.S. CHAMPION NATHAN CHEN HIGHLIGHTS NBC SPORTS GROUP’S FOUR CONTINENTS FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS COVERAGE THIS WEEK

Coverage From South Korea Begins Tomorrow at Noon ET with the Short Dance on NBCSN

NBC Hosts Coverage of the Ladies’ Free Skate This Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET

STAMFORD, Conn. – February 15, 2017 – NBC Sports Group presents coverage of the 2017 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships from Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea, the venue for the figure skating competition at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Coverage, which includes every event, begins tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 16, at Noon ET with the short dance on NBCSN, and continues throughout the weekend, including the ladies’ free skate this Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Coverage culminates Saturday at 11 p.m. ET with the men’s free skate on NBCSN.

The men’s field is highlighted by reigning U.S. men’s champion and Grand Prix Final silver medalist Nathan Chen, who at 17 became the youngest U.S. men’s champion in more than 50 years and landed a record five quad jumps in his free skate. Chen faces competition from veterans including 2014 World champion and Olympic gold medalist Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan and three-time World champion and 2014 Olympic silver medalist Patrick Chan of Canada.

Reigning U.S. champion Karen Chen represents Team USA on the women’s side, joined by 2017 U.S. bronze medalist Mariah Bell and 2010 Olympian Mirai Nagasu, the 2016 Four Continents silver medalist. Top international skaters include three-time Canadian champion Kaetlyn Osmond and Japan’s Rika Hongo, who has won bronze at Four Continents the last two seasons.

2010 Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada headline the ice dance competition, along with two-time U.S. champions and World silver medalists Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani. In pairs, 2016 Four Continents silver medalists Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Knierim of the U.S. will compete for the first time this season at Four Continents, going up against reigning World champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford of Canada.

2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Tanith White calls the ladies’ free skate on NBC, joined by 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. figure skating champion Johnny Weir.

Andrea Joyce calls the action on NBCSN, alongside two-time U.S. pairs champion John Coughlin. Joyce will be joined by 2014 Olympic ice dance champion Charlie White for the ice dance competitions.
