NBCSN to Present More Than 12 Hours of Live Coverage from St. Moritz, Switzerland, During World Championships From February 7-19
STAMFORD, Conn. – February 6, 2017 – Olympic gold medalists Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin headline the U.S. team competing at the FIS World Alpine Ski Championships, as NBC Sports Group presents comprehensive live coverage from St. Moritz, Switzerland, beginning tomorrow, February 7, through Sunday, February 19.
NBC, NBCSN, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will combine to present more than 30 hours of World Championships coverage, including 12 hours of live coverage on NBCSN.
NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming platforms for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs – will provide comprehensive streaming coverage of the Alpine World Championships.
Dan Hicks will call the action from St. Moritz. Bode Miller, the most decorated U.S. Olympic skier in history, will serve as an analyst, alongside former World Cup skier Steve Porino, and reporter Heather Cox.

FIS WORLD ALPINE SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS – FEB. 7-19 ON NBC AND NBCSN
Vonn and Shiffrin are both attempting to become the first American woman to win three world titles in alpine skiing.Vonn is slated to compete in the super-G, downhill, and super combined (Feb. 7-12), while Shiffrin is expected to compete in giant slalom and slalom (Feb. 16 and 18).
Shiffrin is the defending two-time world champion in slalom (2013 and 2015), and is the current overall World Cup leader on the women’s circuit, leading reigning overall champion Lara Gut of Switzerland. Shiffrin has won eight races this season and boasts 28 career wins, the most for any skier in World Cup history before age 22.
Vonn is a six-time medalist at the World Championships, which include a pair of world titles in the downhill and super-G in Val d’Isere in 2009. Vonn heads into the World Championships looking to build off her downhill victory in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, in late January. She now boasts 77 career World Cup victories, nine shy of Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark, who holds the all-time World Cup record with 86 race wins on the men’s circuit.
On the men’s side, Travis Ganong and Andrew Weibrecht headline the U.S medal hopes. Weibrecht is a two-time Olympic medalist, while Ganong aims to replicate his silver-medal performance in the downhill at the 2015 World Championships. Ganong won the downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen last weekend, his second career World Cup victory. Austria’s Marcel Hirscher has dominated the men’s World Cup circuit this season, and is expected to be a front runner in St. Moritz, along with Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen and Kjetil Jansrud, and France’s Alexis Pinturault.
Coverage begins tomorrow with the women’s super-G at 5:55 a.m. ET on NBCSN, followed by the men’s super-G on Wednesday at 5:55 a.m. ET. NBC’s coverage begins Saturday with the men’s downhill at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed by the women’s downhill on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Coverage of the giant slalom airs on NBCSN on February 16-17, followed by the slalom on the final weekend of the World Championships, February 18-19, including the women’s slalom on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. ET on NBC.
