NBC Sports Group Presents Inaugural Team USA Winter Champions Series Event This Saturday

STAMFORD, Conn. – Dec. 15, 2016 – NBC Sports Group will present nearly 100 hours of Olympic winter sports coverage this weekend across NBC, NBCSN, Universal HD, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app, highlighted by FIS World Cup alpine skiing coverage from Val d’Isere in France and Val Gardena and Alta Badia in Italy.

In addition, NBC Sports Group will present freestyle skiing and snowboarding from the U.S. Grand Prix in Copper Mountain, Colo.; FIL World Cup luge from Park City Utah; ISU World Cup short track speed skating; IBSF World Cup bobsled and skeleton coverage from Lake Placid, N.Y.; and the inaugural Team USA Winter Champions Series.

NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app — NBC Sports Group’s live streaming platforms for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs — will provide live streaming coverage of this week’s Olympic winter sports coverage.

FIS WORLD CUP ALPINE SKIING

Reigning women’s World Cup champion Lara Gut of Switzerland will lead the in Val d’Isere, while two-time Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety, two-time Olympic medalist Andrew Weibrecht, and three-time Olympian Steve Nyman are among the Americans expected to compete at this weekend’s events in Italy.

Streaming coverage begins tomorrow at 4:30 a.m. ET with the women’s super combined. Universal HD will air same-day delayed coverage of FIS World Cup alpine skiing each day, beginning tomorrow at 5 p.m. ET with the men’s super G from Val Gardena. In addition to Universal HD’s coverage each day, NBCSN will air a three-hour telecast on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, highlighting the men’s giant slalom from Alta Badia and the women’s super G in Val d’Isere.

U.S. GRAND PRIX FREESTYLE SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

NBC presents coverage of the U.S. Grand Prix season opener this Sunday at 2 p.m. ET in Copper Mountain, Colo., as the world’s best skiers and snowboarders compete in the halfpipe. Two-time Olympic medalist Hannah Teter and 16-year-old phenom Chloe Kim are among the top American snowboarders in the field, while Sochi Olympic medalists David Wise and Gus Kenworthy will represent the U.S. in freestyle skiing.

NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will present streaming coverage of the halfpipe snowboarding final tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET, and the halfpipe skiing final on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. ET.

ISU WORLD CUP SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATING

NBC Sports Group will present coverage of this weekend’s ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating event from Gangneung Ice Arena in South Korea, which will serve as a test event for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. Universal HD will televise coverage Saturday at 2 p.m. ET, followed by NBCSN’s presentation on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.

Steve Schlanger (play-by-play) and Dan Weinstein (analyst) will provide commentary.
NBC SPORTS GROUP PRESENTS INAUGURAL TEAM USA WINTER CHAMPIONS SERIES EVENT THIS SATURDAY

NBC Sports Group presents the inaugural Team USA Winter Champions Series, a tripleheader of Olympic winter sports events, this Saturday, December 17, on NBC and NBCSN. Coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC with men’s and women’s big air snowboarding from Copper Mountain, Colo., an event that will make its Olympic debut at the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. NBC will also present the FIL Women’s World Cup luge event from Park City, Utah, as part of the telecast.
