NBC Produces Dolphins-Jets this Saturday Night on NFL Network
STAMFORD, Conn. – December 14, 2016 – NBC’s Sunday Night Football — primetime television’s No. 1 show — continues this week with a matchup with NFC playoff implications, when Dak Prescott and the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys (11-2) host Jameis Winston and the 8-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Coverage begins with Football Night in America this Sunday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. ET on NBC.
The Cowboys are led by the rookie tandem of Prescott and RB Ezekiel Elliott. Prescott leads NFL rookies with a passer rating of 102.7, while Elliott leads the league with 1,392 rushing yards. The Cowboys look to rebound from a 10-7 loss to the Giants on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, which snapped their franchise-record 11-game winning streak.
The Buccaneers have won five consecutive games, the most recent a 16-11 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Winston has a 100.2 passer rating in his past four games on the road, while RB Doug Martin aims for his third straight game with a rushing touchdown. Buccaneers WR Mike Evans ranks third in the NFL in touchdown catches (10), and has 25 receiving touchdowns since entering league in 2014, tied for second-most in the NFC.
The Cowboys have won 11 of the past 15 meetings between the teams, but were defeated by the Buccaneers 10-6 in their last matchup in November 2015. In that game, Winston passed for 264 yards and rushed for the game-winning touchdown with 54 seconds remaining. Sunday is the first Buccaneers game on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in eight years (Seattle-Tampa Bay, October 2008).
Calling Buccaneers-Cowboys are seven-time Emmy Award-winner Al Michaels (play-by-play), in his record 31st season as the voice of the NFL’s premier primetime package; 16-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth; and two-time Emmy Award-winning sideline reporter Michele Tafoya.
NBC’s coverage of Sunday Night Football is led by Emmy Award-winning producer Fred Gaudelli and Emmy Award-winning director Drew Esocoff.
Football Night in America, the most-watched weekly studio show in sports, is hosted Bob Costas, who will report on-site from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and Dan Patrick, who will host from NBC Sports Group’s International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn. Patrick is joined by Hall of Fame head coach Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl champion Rodney Harrison, and Mike Florio of NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk. Kathryn Tappen will report from Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo., on the Patriots-Broncos game.
“THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL” CONTINUES TOMORROW ON NBC; NBC PRODUCES DOLPHINS-JETS ON SATURDAY NIGHT
The only network with two primetime NFL packages, NBC continues its coverage of Thursday Night Football tomorrow, Thursday, December 15, when Russell Wilson and the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks (8-4-1) host Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash. Coverage starts at 7:30 p.m. ET with Football Night in Seattle on NBC.
Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth will call Rams-Seahawks, joined by sideline reporter Heather Cox. Bob Costas will serve as the host of the Football Night in Seattle pregame show from CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash. He will be joined on-site by Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy and two-time Super Bowl champion Rodney Harrison.
In addition, NBC will produce Saturday’s Miami Dolphins-New York Jets game at 8:30 p.m. ET on NFL Network. Mike Tirico calls the game joined by analyst Doug Flutie, with Cox reporting from the sideline. Dungy will join Tirico and Flutie in the booth beginning in the second quarter.
