SHOTGUN
TO DEBUT ON NBCSN THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19 AT 7 P.M. ET

NBC Sports Group’s full-throttled automotive quiz show, Shotgun, tests contestants’ skills at answering questions while riding in the passenger seat of a professional race car. Hosted by NASCAR on NBC’s Rutledge Wood, the one-hour show invites six contestants to buckle in for the ride of their lives and ride “shotgun” as professional drivers put the pedal to the medal around four different courses at Irwindale Speedway, in Irwindale, Calif.

As the cars race around the track and drift between obstacles, each contestant is asked trivia questions covering a range of topics from pop culture to geography. Contestants who answer the most questions correctly in each round will move on to the next race course. Each new course will feature unique challenges and a different race vehicle. The last contestant standing after all four rounds wins $25,000.

In a first-of-its-kind launch for NBC Sports Group, the eight-episode series debuted digitally – on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app – on Sunday, November 6, following NBC’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race coverage from Texas Motor Speedway. Click here to watch the digital series.  An encore presentation of the show will air Sunday, December 11, on NBC.

As part of a presenting sponsorship, Shotgun features four different Toyota race cars. The cars include the Toyota 86, Toyota NASCAR Camry Stock Car, Toyota Formula D Car, and Toyota Tacoma, with each car used in a different round. Shotgun is the latest show in a series of initiatives between NBC Sports Group and Toyota. Previous projects have included NBC Sports’ NASCAR Gridiron Challenge, prior to NBC’s presentation of Super Bowl XLIX, and 18 Rising, which chronicled NASCAR driver Kyle Busch’s comeback journey from a broken leg to the 2016 Sprint Cup Championship.

Shotgun is produced by Profiles TV’s Bertram Van Munster and Elise Doganieri, creators of The Amazing Race.
