Saturday Night’s Game Added to NBCSN Schedule Following Auston Matthews’ Record Four Goals in NHL Debut on Wednesday

STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 13, 2016 – Following an NHL record four-goal performance by 19-year-old American and 2016 Toronto Maple Leafs first overall draft pick Auston Matthews in his NHL debut last night, NBCSN announced today it will televise live coverage of Matthews’ first NHL home game this Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET, when the Maple Leafs host the Boston Bruins in an Original Six showdown.

Matthews, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., became the first player in modern history to score four goals in his NHL debut on Wednesday night against the Ottawa Senators.

Last night, NBCSN televised a Wednesday Night Rivalry doubleheader which started with the St. Louis Blues vs. Chicago Blackhawks at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks. Blues-Blackhawks delivered a 0.74 overnight rating, the fourth-best overnight rating ever for an NHL game on NBCSN, and Kings-Sharks posted a 0.39 overnight rating, the second-best overnight rating for a late doubleheader game on the network.

Coverage continues tonight on NBCSN at 8 p.m. ET in Pittsburgh, when the Stanley Cup Champion Penguins raise their 2016 championship banner and host Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
