Patrick Reed speaking with NBC Sports’ Steve Sands following his 2&1 win
Patrick Reed – “I was made for this kind of stuff. Any time I can get in front of the crowd and especially the Americans and have the red, white and blue on, it just fuels me. For some reason, getting that hyped up it doesn’t really affect me. Which is shocking. You would think the ball would go farther and all that kind of stuff. But for some reason I’m able to just hit normal golf shots.

On Reed & Jordan Spieth
David Duval – “With Spieth and Reed, you’re looking at the two bosses of the U.S. Ryder Cup team moving forward. These guys are going to be around for a long, long time.”

On Reed
Brandel Chamblee – “You start to think about Ian Poulter and Patrick Reed and even Seve Ballesteros. Some of the great match play players or players who can be a little erratic… They stun you with their recovery because they’re brilliant around the greens… Going forward [Reed’s] legend will forever be cemented regardless of what he does – and he’ll go on to have major championship success, I don’t doubt it – but it’ll be forged and have so much to do with his success in the Ryder Cup.”

On Rory McIlroy
Frank Nobilo – “He took a lot of knocks this year, there’s no question about it. Whether it’s his training, whether it’s the Olympics… Slowly we started to see him come right. It was putting for a while. And then he started to light it up. That back nine at Deutsche Bank and then what he did at East Lake.  He comes in here with great form and a point still to prove.”

On the United States team
Nick Faldo – “After four years ago when you’re leading by four, I don’t think it’s a secret to say there was a few players who were complacent… I think that word, complacency will be rattled around a bit. They’ll be saying ‘We haven’t won this yet.’ American will be saying, ‘This is not over yet.’”
