Note the following quotes from Inside Look with Kyle Hendricks presented by Cadillac premiering Thursday, September 15 at 11:00 PM on Comcast SportsNet:

Hendricks on how the team philosophy starts in the minors

“The Cubs Way’…they have always had phrases that really register with the young guys to keep them moving forward in the right way. It has always been team-oriented. There is one goal in mind and when you are working together that well, you see the product come together on the field. “

Hendricks on the pressure that comes with his job:

“From spring training Day 1, Joe (Maddon) knows how to create the right environment for a team to thrive and succeed. All these little sayings ‘Embrace the target,’ ‘don’t let the pressure exceed the pleasure’… all these things we really take to heart and we know we have to implement that to have success on the field…you have to play loose if you are going to play your best.  When dealing with the expectations, I think all this experience has helped us going into the postseason because it will be just more of the same.”

Hendricks on the Cubs clubhouse:

“It is kind of mind blowing to me to be in that conversation. Where I was last year and the mechanical issues I had, coming into spring, my goals were not Cy Young. I have trust in myself. How can you blame me for not expecting that? You have to trust in the process. It is this mental approach of every time I take the mound, trying to make good pitches and control what is in my control. You cannot control what the hitter does sometimes.”

Hendricks on the possibility of winning the World Series:

“A lot of people on this team and in this front office have been thinking about it for years. Since spring training, 100% it’s been a thought on everyone’s mind. That moment when this ball club finally pulls through and actually wins it, we all expect it; we all know that is where we are going and what is going to happen. We know what it takes as well. Keeping that competitive edge and competitive mindset and not letting up any day….just pushing us through to the end of October is what will bring us that success.  It is what everyone thinks about.  For the Cubs, it has been so long, it will be such a historical World Series. Everyone on this team is aware of what can happen.”
