NOTABLE QUOTES: BMW CHAMPIONSHIP (FINAL ROUND)

Golf Channel on NBC Notable Quotes
BMW Championship –   Final Round
Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016
Crooked Stick Golf Club, Carmel, Ind.

**At 11 a.m. ET tomorrow (Sept. 12), Golf Channel will televise a special Golf Central live news conference, where U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III will announce his first three captain’s picks ahead of the 2016 Ryder Cup (Sept. 30-Oct.2).**

Dustin Johnson (23-under, winner) speaking with Golf Channel on NBC’s Steve Sands following his win
Dustin Johnson – “I’ve got a lot of confidence in every part of my game. Especially all of the work I’ve put in on my wedges, it’s really paid off this year. And this week the putter really worked.”

On Johnson
Johnny Miller – “He is right in his prime. The driver is such a weapon, and to be No. 1 in putting throughout most of the [week] is quite the lethal combination. That is some kind of playing on this golf course.”
Peter Jacobsen – “It’s an impressive thing to see what Dustin Johnson has done just taking apart this golf course… “You start combining his length and iron play, if he starts putting like this every week… Goodnight.”

On Paul Casey (20-under, 2nd)
Roger Maltbie – “You can get outplayed which is what’s happened certainly. But it takes nothing away from his golf and the status of his game right now. He is really playing beautiful golf.”
Gary Koch – “You have to feel for Paul Casey a little bit. He’s really played a lot of very good golf [not to win].”
Miller – “With that total of 20-under he would have won most every time you come here to Crooked Stick. He just happened to run into a freight train…I think his average iron shot the last couple days is about five to 10 feet offline on average. He’s striping it.”
Jacobsen – “The last two weeks for Paul Casey have been some impressive golf.”

On Roberto Castro (17-under, 3rd), an Atlanta resident, advancing to the TOUR Championship
Koch – “You’ve got to hand it to him. He knew exactly where he needed to finish, and he’s going to move on to Atlanta.”

On Jason Day, who withdrew during the final round of the BMW Championship with a back injury
Miller – “His swing is a copy of Tiger’s 2000 swing. He swings so hard at it with the driver, you’re asking for a flat tire so to speak. He really goes at it I think too hard. He should go at it maybe three of four times a round hard and the rest of the time be a lot smoother. I think if he’s hitting a lot of balls swinging that hard, things are going to start falling apart.”
