Darwin Price Faces Javontae Starks in Lightweight Bout

STAMFORD, Conn. – September 1, 2016 – NBCSN presents Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) this Saturday, September 3, at 8 p.m. ET, with Darwin Price (10-0, 5 KOs) and Javontae Starks (13-1, 7 KOs) facing off in an eight-round super lightweight bout from San Antonio, Texas.

NBCSN’s coverage begins with unbeaten super lightweights Rickey Edwards (11-0, 3 KOs) and Kent Cruz (10-0, 6 KOs) competing in an eight-round bout.

Kenny Rice calls the action alongside analyst and professional boxer B.J. Flores, with host/reporter Todd Harris ringside.

A LOOK AT THE MATCHUPS

Originally from St. Louis, Darwin Price trains out of Houston, Texas. The 26-year-old, who turned pro in 2013, took home four victories in 2015, including a win in his first eight-round bout against Alvaro Ortiz in November. Fighting out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Javontae Starks racked up an impressive 98-16 amateur record before turning pro in 2009. At nearly six-foot, Starks used his length and skills to win the first 13 fights of his pro career including victories over Jeremiah Wiggins and Carlos Galvan.

A former New Jersey Golden Gloves champion from Paterson, N.J., Rickey Edwards fights out of Houston and is unbeaten since turning pro in 2013. The 26-year-old racked up five victories in 2015, including a knockout over Marco Antonio Solis. Edwards has defeated previously unbeaten boxers John Delperdang and Azriel Paez in his last two fights. Edwards faces Kent Cruz, a 23-year-old who turned pro in 2013. The undefeated Cruz has 10 wins, including six knockouts with four in the first round.
