NBCSN Presents Eight Hours of Mecum Auctions Coverage from Monterey Tomorrow at 7 p.m. ET

STAMFORD, Conn. – August 23, 2016 – NBCSN will present coverage of the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix this Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET and the rescheduled IndyCar Firestone 600 on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. ET, as part of NBC Sports Group’s 50-plus hours of motorsports coverage this week.

NBC Sports Group’s motorsports action this week also includes the final race of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and this weekend’s Red Bull Global RallyCross event from Atlantic City on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.

In addition, NBCSN will also debut Journey to the Hammers, a six-episode series profiling the ULTRA4 racing circuit, which combines high-speed off-road racing and rock crawling, this Thursday, Aug. 25, at 11 p.m. ET, part of NBCSN’s Thursday night motorsports block. Coverage begins tomorrow night with an eight-hour block of Mecum Auctions action from last weekend’s event in Monterey, beginning at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN.


FORMULA ONE BELGIAN GRAND PRIX – SUNDAY AT 7:30 A.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBC Sports Group continues its coverage of the 2016 Formula One Championship this Sunday with the Belgian Grand Prix, as Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton aims for his fifth consecutive win and seventh victory in eight races. Hamilton now leads the drivers’ standings (217 points) by 19 points over teammate and rival Nico Rosberg (198 points) as he races towards a fourth career F1 season championship. Hamilton won last year’s race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the second Belgian GP win of his career (2010).

Live coverage begins exclusively on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app on Friday morning at 4 a.m. ET with Practice 1, followed by NBCSN’s live coverage of Practice 2 at 8 a.m. ET. Streaming coverage on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app continues Saturday at 5 a.m. ET with Practice 3 and live qualifying at 8 a.m. ET. NBCSN will air delayed coverage of qualifying on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.

Live Belgian Grand Prix coverage begins Sunday morning at 7 a.m. ET on NBCSN with F1 Countdown, and is followed by F1 Extra at 10 a.m. ET.

Lead F1 announcer Leigh Diffey will call this weekend’s action, and will be joined by veteran analyst and former racecar driver David Hobbs, and analyst and former race mechanic for the Benetton F1 team Steve Matchett. F1 insider Will Buxton will serve as the team’s on-site reporter in Belgium.


INDYCAR FIRESTONE 600 – SATURDAY AT 9:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBC Sports Group continues its exclusive cable coverage of the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series this Saturday at 9:30 p.m. ET with live coverage of the Firestone 600 from Texas Motor Speedway. This race was rescheduled after torrential rain halted the race on Sunday, June 12, after just 71 of a scheduled 248 laps were completed. Saturday night’s race will resume on Lap 72, with James Hinchcliffe (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports), who held the lead at the time the race was halted, at the front of the pack.

Will Power (Penske) won the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono on Monday to move within 20 points of teammate Simon Pagenaud who continues to lead the championship standings. Power has finished in first or second place for the last six consecutive races, which includes four victories.

Coverage begins on NBCSN on Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET with pre-race coverage, followed by green flag action at 9:30 p.m. ET.

Kevin Lee (play-by-play) will call the action alongside analysts and drivers Paul Tracy and Townsend Bell. Reporters Jon Beekhuis, Katie Hargitt and Robin Miller will report from the pits.


NBCSN DEBUTS NEW SERIES JOURNEY TO THE HAMMERS THURSDAY AT 11 P.M. ET, PART OF THURSDAY NIGHT MOTORSPORTS BLOCK

NBCSN debuts a new original series, Journey to the Hammers, this Thursday, Aug. 25, at 11 p.m. ET. The six-episode series will profile the ULTRA4 racing series, which combines high-speed off-road racing and rock crawling, will include a one-hour episode featuring the “King of the Hammers,” one of the toughest one-day off-road races on the planet. The series will follow the 2016 season, starting with the King of the Motos and concluding with the ULTRA4 Fallon 250.

In addition to Journey to the Hammers, NBCSN’s Thursday night motorsports block, which begins at 9 p.m. ET, includes the debut of Mecum Top 10, which highlights the top moments from NBC Sports Group’s Mecum Auctions coverage, as well as encore presentations of Nitro Circus.


RED BULL GLOBAL RALLYCROSS – ATLANTIC CITY – SUNDAY AT 3 P.M. ET ON NBC

NBC Sports Group continues its coverage of the 2016 Red Bull Global RallyCross Championship this weekend from the series’ event in Atlantic City, N.J. Scott Speed (Volkswagen Andretti) won the most recent event in Washington D.C. on July 30, and has moved into second place in the driver championship standings behind teammate Tanner Foust.

Toby Moody handles the play-by-play for this weekend’s event alongside analyst Anders Krohn and reporter Kristen Kenney.


MECUM AUCTIONS – MONTEREY – WEDNESDAY AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBCSN presents eight hours of Mecum Auctions coverage from its iconic event in Monterey, Calif., which took place last weekend. Highlights from the auction include:


  • 1966 BSA A65L motorcycle purchased new in 1966 by Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys;
  • 1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible that was loaned to The White House by the Ford Motor Company for First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy’s use;
  • 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster purchased that was purchased new by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy Award winner Bobby Darin;
  • 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S previously owned by American tennis legend Pete Sampras;
  • 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster that has had one private owner – boxing legend George Foreman.

Scott Hoke hosts NBCSN’s Mecum Auctions coverage from Monterey, alongside analysts John Kraman, Stephen Cox, Bill Stephens, and Steve Matchett. Mecum Auctions is led by Dana Mecum, Founder and President of Mecum Auctions for the past 28 years.


LUCAS OIL PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP IRONMAN NATIONAL – SATURDAY AT 6 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBCSN presents the final race of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship this Sunday at 6 p.m. ET with the Ironman National from Crawfordville, Ind. Ken Roczen clinched his second 450 Class season title in three years with a sweep at Budds Creek last weekend, while Cooper Webb clinched the 250 Class season title with his result last weekend as well.

Veteran play-by-play voice Jason Weigandt, analyst and two-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion Grant Langston, and pit reporter Georgia Lindsay will call this weekend’s action.
NBCSN PRESENTS NASCAR SPRINT CUP AND XFINITY SERIES RACING FROM MICHIGAN AND ROAD AMERICA THIS WEEKEND

NBCSN continues its NASCAR coverage with this weekend’s Sprint Cup Series race from Michigan on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET, and this weekend’s XFINITY Series race from Road America on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. A release detailing this weekend’s NASCAR coverage will be distributed later this week.
