STAMFORD, Conn. – August 20, 2016 – NBC’s primetime coverage of the Games of the XXXI Olympiad continues  Saturday, August 20, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Action is highlighted by the penultimate day of track and field competition as Allyson Felix, who is now the most-decorated female athlete in track and field history following her fifth gold medal as a member of the U.S. women’s 4x100m relay team, is expected to lead the U.S. in the women’s 4x400m relay. The Americans are in search of their sixth consecutive gold medal in the event.

 

Track and field coverage also includes the heavily favored U.S. in the men’s 4x400m relay, featuring LaShawn Merritt, the 400m bronze medalist in Rio and 2008 gold medalist in the event; five-time Olympian Bernard Lagat in the men’s 5000m final; and Vashti Cunningham, daughter of former NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham, in the women’s high jump final.

 

Primetime coverage continues with the men’s platform diving semifinal and gold medal final, where David Boudia is expected to contend for his second straight Olympic title. Boudia aims to become the first back-to-back men’s platform diving gold medalist since American Greg Louganis repeated in 1988.

 

NBC’s daytime coverage begins at 10 a.m. ET with the women’s triathlon, immediately followed by the women’s indoor volleyball bronze medal match when the U.S. battles the Netherlands for a spot on the podium at 12:15 p.m. ET. Coverage continues as the U.S. women’s basketball team faces Spain in the gold medal game at 2:30 p.m. ET and Croatia takes on Serbia in men’s water polo at 4:45 p.m. ET.

 

Men’s soccer highlights NBCSN’s live Saturday coverage. Coverage kicks off when Honduras faces Nigeria in the bronze medal match at Noon ET, followed by the gold medal final match between Brazil and Germany at 4:30 p.m. ET. Brazil seeks redemption for its senior team’s 7-1 defeat to Germany on home soil in the semifinals of the 2014 World Cup.

 

MSNBC’s coverage begins with the men’s water polo gold medal final when Montenegro faces Italy at Noon ET, and continues with taekwondo qualifying, the men’s singles badminton bronze medal match and the women’s handball gold medal final as France takes on Russia at 2:30 p.m. ET.

 

Saturday’s coverage on USA Network features a men’s boxing 56 kg gold medal bout between American Shakur Stevenson and 2012 Olympic champion Robeisy Ramirez Carrazana of Cuba at 12:15 p.m. ET. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, and named after the rapper Tupac Shakur, the 19-year-old Stevenson is competing in his first Olympics.

 

USA Network presents coverage of several bronze medal matchups beginning with women’s basketball when France battles Serbia at 10:30 a.m. ET, followed by men’s water polo between Montenegro and Italy, and women’s handball between the Netherlands and Norway at 12:15 p.m. ET. Coverage continues on USA Network at 2:15 p.m. ET with the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around gold medal final and the men’s singles badminton gold medal match.

 

Gold medal finals coverage on USA Network includes boxing and men’s freestyle at 8 p.m. ET. Coverage continues at 9:15 p.m. ET with a women’s volleyball matchup as China faces Serbia for gold, followed by taekwondo gold medal finals.

 

On Saturday, Golf Channel presents final round coverage of the women’s golf competition at 6 a.m. ET, featuring three of the game’s biggest stars in position to claim a place on the medal stand, with Inbee Park (South Korea) in the lead at 11 under, and Gerina Piller (United States) and Lydia Ko (New Zealand) tied for 2nd at 9 under par. Saturday’s final round tee times have been moved up in an attempt to avoid anticipated inclement weather, with groups teeing off both the 1st and 10th tees, and the final group teeing off at 7:44 a.m. ET.

 

The men’s soccer gold medal final match between Brazil and Germany, a rematch of the 2014 World Cup semifinal that Germany won 7-1, highlights Telemundo’s coverage on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.

On Sunday, August 21, NBC presents Rio Gold, an hour-long special looking back at the defining moments of the Rio Olympic Games, at 7 p.m. ET/PT leading into the Closing Ceremony for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

 

Daytime coverage on NBC begins at 8 a.m. ET with the men’s marathon as Americans Galen Rupp, who won the U.S. Olympic Trials in his marathon debut, and Meb Keflezighi, the oldest U.S. marathoner in Olympic history, race for the gold. Coverage continues with rhythmic gymnastics group gold medal finals at 11 a.m. ET.

 

In addition, NBC’s daytime coverage features the men’s basketball gold medal game as Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony lead the U.S. against Serbia for its third-consecutive gold medal live at 2:15 p.m. ET.
