CSN MID-ATLANTIC NAMES JOE FERREIRA VICE PRESIDENT OF CONTENT STRATEGY

BETHESDA, Md. – July 25, 2016 – CSN Mid-Atlantic announced today that veteran sports media executive Joe Ferreira has been named vice president of content strategy. He will assume the position Aug. 1 and will report to CSN Mid-Atlantic President Rebecca Schulte.

In the newly created role, Ferreira will lead CSN’s comprehensive portfolio of studio programming, original content and digital media, including its online, mobile and social assets. He will develop and advance an integrated content, production and distribution strategy and guide content-related research and innovation. Ferreira will also oversee the strategic development of talent across all platforms.

“Joe is an accomplished leader with a record of leveraging new and emerging technologies to create compelling content and build groundbreaking platforms,” said Schulte. “Adding his experience and knowledge to our already talented team will allow us continue to enhance our product and successfully serve fans.”

Ferreira has more than 28 years of experience in television and digital media, including 25 years in leadership positions. Throughout his career, he has developed multimedia content strategy; created successful digital platforms; launched innovative video services; and led research, planning and relationship management for leading sports and entertainment organizations, including CBS, NBC and the National Football League.

“The changing media landscape presents significant opportunities for innovative content-producers to connect with fans in new ways,” said Ferreira. “CSN Mid-Atlantic’s content, market, team partners and platforms make it a leader in regional sports coverage and I’m very excited to help expand that position well into the future.”

Ferreira joins CSN from collegiate multimedia rights holder Learfield Sports, where he served as chief content officer for four years. Based in Plano, Texas, he oversaw all content and distribution platforms – including television, radio, online, mobile, and social – and was responsible for developing new products and services.

Prior to Learfield Sports, Ferreira was a consultant for USA Today Sports Media Group after spending more than 12 years with CBS Interactive. During that time, he served as senior vice president of CBS Audience Network, an online video distribution platform; as senior vice president, network liaison and original content; and as vice president and executive producer for CBSSportsLine.com.

During his seven years with CBSSportsLine.com, Ferreira directed content and programming for CBS’s portfolio of sports websites. He was also instrumental in the creation of innovative digital video products, such as the Emmy Award-winning “March Madness on Demand” and a similar service covering The Masters.

Ferreira was the NFL’s senior director of broadcasting and scheduling for more than seven years from 1992 to 2000, where he collaborated with league media partners and contributed to rights agreements. He joined the NFL after serving in sports research and programming positions for more than four years at CBS and NBC. Ferreira began his media career as a participant in NBC’s Page Program.
