Day 3 Results and Points Standings

On Saturday’s Day 3 Matches at the UL International Crown
Jerry Foltz – “You put a national flag on somebody’s hat, regardless of the country, things get serious.”
Foltz – “The dynamic just seems to change in team match play competition. It is so much different than a stroke play event. In match play, it comes down to who makes the clutch putts. We are being treated it to it this week at the UL International Crown.”

On U.S.A’s Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson defeating Japan’s Ai Suzuki and Ayaka Watanabe 4&2
Karen Stupples – “This is going to be a pairing that is going stay together for a very long time, going through into Solheim Cups. They really enjoy playing with each other.”
Stupples – “This partnership has been really good for the both of them.”

On U.S.A.’s Gerina Piller and Stacy Lewis defeating Japan’s Mika Miyazato and Haru Nomura 3&1
Rankin – “The nature of match play. This went back and forth a little bit. For the most part, the American team was in a little bit of control.”
Foltz – “Today the putts that were hitting the lips of the cups were dropping for Gerina.”

Piller and Lewis speaking with Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz following their match
Gerina Piller – “It was really nice, we have both burned the edges the past couple of days so to see them go in, it just feels so much better.”
Stacy Lewis – “She was making so many putts on the back nine, it was awesome. Getting four points today was huge and it gives us a shot at this thing.”

On England sweeping both of their matches today
Judy Rankin – “On the days when you are on it is easy.”
Rankin – “England has played so spectacularly well today.”

On England’s Charley Hull and Melissa Reid defeating Thailand’s Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn 3&1
Rankin – “She [Hull] pretty much seems like herself today.”
Nicole Castrale – “She looks totally unfazed.”
Rankin – “Unbelievably impressive. The only loss for England was when Mel Reid had to play by herself.”

On England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Holly Clyburn defeating Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum and Porani Chutichai 7&5
Rankin – “Maybe as good of a round of golf that Jodi Ewart Shadoff has played this year.”
