The 145TH Open – Round 1
Thursday, July 14 (1:30-10 a.m. ET)
Royal Troon Golf Club, Troon, Scotland

**Live Round 1 coverage of The 145TH Open continues on Golf Channel until the final group (4:16 p.m. BST tee time) concludes its round. Golf Central Live From The Open will immediately follow.**

Justin Thomas (4-under, T-2nd) speaking with Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis following his round
Justin Thomas – “I think you take 67 [in] the first round or any round of any major. It was obviously great scoring conditions out there, and it was nice to take advantage of it. I think scoring on that front-nine was key… 10 and 11 I think are extremely, extremely hard holes after making the turn. I think if you get through those holes playing them 3 or 4-over for the week combined would be pretty good.”

Justin Rose (3-under, T-6th) speaking with Lewis following his round
Justin Rose – “This is about as easy as we’ve had it. So we haven’t really seen Troon as an overly-gettable golf course [until today]… But even with the subtle soft breeze, the back-nine still gets your attention.”

Rory McIlroy (2-under, T-13th) speaking with Golf Channel’s Steve Sands following his round
Rory McIlroy – “I think I would have taken anything in the 60s today [before teeing off]… I actually felt like I played some really good shots on the back even though I shot 2-over par… It played as exactly how I thought it would… I knew anything around even par on the back-nine was a very good effort.”

On Colin Montgomerie (Even, T-40th)
Jerry Foltz – “What a sway of emotions he must have experienced standing on that first hole facing triple bogey and thinking this could be a nightmare-ish two-day Open for me. And then all the sudden with those feelings that have to start creeping back in his head of ‘Could I catch lightning in a bottle one more time’ here at home?”
