STAMFORD, Conn. – July 13, 2016 – NBC Sports Group continues its exclusive cable coverage of the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series this weekend north of the border in Toronto, with CNBC’s live presentation of the Honda Indy Toronto at Exhibition Place this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

In addition to this weekend’s IndyCar Honda Indy Toronto, coverage includes the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Spring Creek National event on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, as well as the NASCAR XFINITY and Sprint Cup Series races from New Hampshire on Saturday and Sunday on NBCSN.


INDYCAR HONDAY INDY TORONTO – SUNDAY AT 2:30 P.M. ET ON CNBC

The 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series rolls north of the border this weekend for the Honda Indy Toronto at Exhibition Place this Sunday on CNBC. Josef Newgarden (Ed Carpenter Racing) dominated the field at the Indy Iowa Corn 300 last Sunday, leading 282 of 300 laps en route to his first career oval victory and setting the IndyCar record for most laps led in a race.

Newgarden, who won last year’s Honda Indy Toronto, now currently sits in second position in the driver standings with 336 points, 73 points behind leader Simon Pagenaud (Penske; 409 points). Will Power (Penske), who finished in second place in Iowa following back-to-back wins at Detroit and Road America, is currently in third place (334 points).

Coverage begins Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN with live qualifying, prior to Sunday’s live race coverage at 2:30 p.m. ET on CNBC. NBCSN will also air an encore presentation of the race Sunday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Leigh Diffey (play-by-play) will call the action alongside Toronto native Paul Tracy, who won at Toronto in 1993 and 2003, and Townsend Bell. Reporters Jon Beekhuis, Katie Hargitt, Robin Miller and Kevin Lee will report from the pits.
2016 VERIZON INDYCAR SERIES ON NBCSN UP 26% VS. 2015 – LAST SUNDAY’S IOWA CORN 300 MOST-WATCHED RACE THUS FAR IN 2016

Through five races, the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series has averaged 408,000 viewers, up 26% vs. the first five races of the 2015 season on NBCSN (325,000). This is NBCSN’s second-best start to an IndyCar season through five races (2010; 428,000) since rights were acquired in 2009.

Last Sunday’s presentation of the IndyCar Iowa Corn 300 on NBCSN (5:34-7:37 p.m. ET) averaged 534,000 viewers to rank as the most-watched IndyCar race thus far in the 2016 IndyCar season.


LUCAS OIL PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP – SPRING CREEK NATIONAL – SATURDAY AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship continues with the Spring Creek National from Millville, Minn., this Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Last week at the Southwick National, Eli Tomac swept the 450 Class for his first victory of the season, snapping Ken Roczen’s winning to open up his lead over Joey Savatgy in the class standings.

Veteran play-by-play voice Jason Weigandt, analyst and two-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion Grant Langston, and pit reporter Georgia Lindsay will call this weekend’s action.
NBCSN SKIDS INTO NEW ENGLAND WITH NASCAR SPRINT CUP RACING FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE SUNDAY AT 1 P.M. ET

NBC Sports Group commences its third weekend of NASCAR coverage with over 19 hours of trackside coverage from New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Following two nail-biting weekends of racing, NBCSN’s on-site racing coverage from New England kicks off Saturday with XFINITY Series racing at 4 p.m. ET, followed by Sprint Cup racing Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
