NOTABLE QUOTES – THE PLAYERS, ROUND 3 (NBC)

Golf Channel on NBC Notable Quotes
THE PLAYERS Championship, Round 3
Saturday, May 14, 2016 (2-7:30 p.m. ET on NBC)
TPC Sawgrass (Stadium Course), Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

**Final round coverage of THE PLAYERS Championship will begin tomorrow at 2 p.m. ET on NBC.**

On Jason Day (14-under, leader)
Gary Koch – “[He] has had some struggles today but he’s managed to come back it seems every time there’s been an opportunity for it to go the wrong way and keep going the wrong way, he somehow prevents that.”
Johnny Miller – “I think he just believes he’s the best player and [he] might as well just dishearten [the rest of the field], just blow them away. He’s got so much confidence.”
Peter Jacobsen – “You have to give him a lot of credit. He was really fighting through some ups-and-downs today. The only thing you can control is your attitude and the way you approach it.”

Ken Duke (10-under, T-2nd) speaking with Golf Channel on NBC’s Steve Sands following his 7-under 65
Ken Duke – “I hit a lot of good shots close. I made all my short ones, which you have to on these greens. Somehow overnight they got two or three feet faster.”

On Duke
Miller – “That is one of the great rounds in the past five years. That [65] is definitely better than the 63s that were shot the last two days I can tell you that. What a [round].”

On the change in course conditions for Saturday’s third round vs. the first two rounds
Jacobsen – “This golf course has changed [its] personality 180 degrees. What a change of perspective. It was a birdie-fest the first two rounds and today there is no moisture on the golf course and everyone has had to change their strategy.”
Koch – “The [players had] to change their mindset and they had to change it very quickly. They [had] to get into a defensive mode and start trying to play to the middle of greens and two-putt. Make pars.”
David Feherty – “For these players it’s just such a mental drain when you’re working so hard to make par and to two-putt from 15 feet. It’s a grind.”
Roger Maltbie – “The players are a little off-put by what they’ve seen on the greens today so they’re taking nothing for granted.”

On Hideki Matsuyama (10-under, T-2nd)
Miller – “He seemed to be oblivious to the carnage that was happening [to the field in the third round].”
