STAMFORD, Conn. – March 15, 2016 – U.S. Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin aims for her 10th consecutive slalom victory on NBC this Saturday at 1 p.m. ET, as NBC Sports Group presents more than 15 hours of coverage of the FIS World Cup alpine skiing finals from St. Moritz, Switzerland. Coverage begins Wednesday on NBCSN at 6 a.m. ET with the men’s and women’s downhill.

This week’s coverage on NBCSN also includes the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships held in Berlin, Germany, tomorrow evening at 12:30 a.m. ET, followed by the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships held in Seoul, South Korea, tomorrow at 1:30 a.m. ET.

NBC Sports Live Extra – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets and connected TVs – will stream all of this weekend’s Olympic winter sports coverage.
FIS WORLD CUP ALPINE SKIING – SATURDAY AT 1 P.M. ET ON NBC

U.S Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin has returned to form following a December knee injury with a pair of slalom race wins, which included a victory by 2.36 seconds in Jasna, Slovakia, on March 6. Overall, Shiffrin has won seven consecutive World Cup slalom races and nine straight overall slalom races, marking the longest streak in more than 15 years (Janica Kostelic; 1999-2001). On the men’s side, two-time U.S. Olympic medalist Andrew Weibrecht enters the week with an outside chance at the super-G title. Weibrecht currently sits in fifth place overall (244 pts), 91 points behind Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. In addition, the title in the men’s downhill is up for grabs tomorrow on NBCSN at 7 p.m. ET, as Italians Peter Fill (436 pts) and Dominik Paris (432 pts) lead the pack. Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal is tied for the lead with 436 points, but has missed the past two months following a season-ending knee injury.

Coverage begins tomorrow morning on NBCSN with the men’s downhill at 6 a.m. ET, followed by the women’s downhill at 7 a.m. ET. Thursday’s coverage on NBCSN showcases the men’s and women’s super-G, beginning at 6 a.m. ET. NBCSN presents the team event Friday at 7 a.m. ET, followed by the women’s and men’s slaloms on Saturday and Sunday at 6 a.m. ET. Universal HD and NBC Sports Live Extra will also provide coverage from St. Moritz throughout the weekend.

Steve Porino (play-by-play) and two-time Olympian Kaylin Richardson (analyst) will provide commentary for the women’s races, while Porino will be joined by Olympic downhill skier Todd Brooker (analyst) for the men’s races.


ISU WORLD ALLROUND SPEED SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS & ISU WORLD SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS TOMORROW AT 12:30 AM ET ON NBCSN

Highlighting the field for the U.S. at the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships are World silver medalist Jessica Smith-Kooreman and World Cup and Junior World medalist John-Henry Krueger. The international field features three-time Olympic gold medalist Charles Hamelin of Canada.

At the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships, the international field is highlighted by seven-time Olympic medalist Sven Kramer of the Netherlands, who entered the event looking to secure his record eighth World Allround gold, and five-time Olympic medalist Martina Sábliková of the Czech Republic, looking to take her career fourth World Allround Title. Sochi Olympian Kelly Gunther represents the U.S. at the event.

Olympic speed skating gold medalist Dan Jansen calls the action for both events, joined by Nick Gismondi for the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships, and Apolo Ohno for the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships. Ohno is the most-decorated Winter Olympian in U.S. history winning eight medals (two gold) over three Olympic Winter Games.
