STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 28, 2016 – The NHL’s new 3-on-3 format will be showcased this weekend, as some of the world’s best hockey players dazzle a national audience with end-to-end action and $1 million dollars on the line in the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game in Nashville, Tenn., this Sunday at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Pre-game coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. ET with NHL Live, with host Liam McHugh and analysts Mike Milbury, Keith Jones and Jeremy Roenick on-site from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Three-time Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick will call the action, alongside U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member and analyst Eddie Olczyk,  Emmy Award-winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire, and 500-goal scorer Jeremy Roenick.

This year’s game will feature the NHL’s brand new 3-on-3 format, setting up for more open ice and scoring opportunities for some of the most talented players in the league. The first two periods will feature separate matchups between the two Eastern Conference Divisions, Atlantic vs. Metropolitan, and the Central and Pacific Divisions representing the Western Conference. The winners of those matchups will go head-to-head in the third period with a prize pool of $1 million dollars on the line for the victorious squad.

McHugh, Milbury and Jones will count down the most exciting 3-on-3 moments this season on NHL Top 10 – 3-on-3 Overtime Moments tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Following are quotes from Milbury and Jones on the new 3-on-3 format:

Milbury: “I’ve loved it from Day One. It’s end-to-end action. I’ve seen thousands and thousands of hockey games. Not a lot surprises me…3-on-3 overtime has me riveted.”

Jones: “This is an entirely new level. During 3-on-3 overtime, all of the fans are standing up – and they should be. There are chances at both ends of the ice and highlight-reel goals on a nightly basis.”

In addition, NHL fans and country music stars Dierks Bentley, Vince Gill, Charles Kelley and Chris Young will serve as celebrity coaches for the game, alongside NHL head coaches Gerard Gallant of the Florida Panthers, Lindy Ruff of the Dallas Stars, Darryl Sutter of the Los Angeles Kings, and Barry Trotz of the Washington Capitals behind the bench.
