NBC Sports Group Presents Coverage of the 2016 European Figure Skating Championships This Week

STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 28, 2016 – NBC, NBCSN, Universal HD, and NBC Sports Live Extra will present more than 20 hours of Olympic winter sports coverage this weekend spanning alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, curling, and figure skating. U.S. Olympic skiers Lindsey Vonn and Travis Ganong headline NBCSN’s FIS World Cup alpine skiing coverage, which will again include analyst Bode Miller, the most-decorated U.S. Olympic skier in history, in the booth for men’s alpine coverage.

In addition, U.S. Olympic gold medalist Joss Christensen headlines U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix coverage from Mammoth Mountain in Calif., airing Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC, Team USA and Japan face off in women’s curling on NBCSN’s Curling Night In America tomorrow night at 10 p.m. ET, and coverage of the 2016 European Figure Skating Championships continues on Universal HD and NBC.

NBC Sports Live Extra – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets and connected TVs – will stream all of this weekend’s Olympic winter sports coverage.
FIS WORLD CUP ALPINE SKIING – COVERAGE BEGINS SATURDAY AT 5:30 A.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBC Sports Group’s live men’s and women’s FIS World Cup skiing coverage on NBCSN features Lindsey Vonn as she continues her pursuit of the World Cup victories record this weekend in Maribor, Slovenia. Vonn is just 11 wins away from reaching the all-time mark of 86, held by Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark, and sits in first position in this season’s overall women’s FIS World Cup standings (900) ahead of Swiss Olympic bronze medalist Lara Gut (855). NBCSN’s women’s alpine skiing coverage airs this weekend with the giant slalom on Saturday at 7 a.m. ET, followed by Sunday’s coverage at 6 a.m. ET.

Men’s alpine skiing coverage begins Saturday morning at 6 a.m. ET with the men’s downhill in Garmisch, Germany, as Ganong, Steven Nyman and Andrew Weibrecht headline a group of U.S. Olympians in the field. Austrian Marcel Hirscher continues to lead the overall FIS World Cup standings (969 points) ahead of Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal (636).

Steve Porino will handle the play-by-play of the men’s and women’s alpine skiing action. Bode Miller will provide analysis of the men’s events, and two-time Olympian Kaylin Richardson serves as an analyst for the women’s events.


U.S. FREESKIING GRAND PRIX – SATURDAY AT 3 P.M. ET ON NBC

Joss Christensen headlines NBC Sports’ U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association action from Mammoth Mountain this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC. Christensen and McRae Williams led the group of Americans who competed in last weekend’s event at Mammoth on the men’s side, while 15-year-old rookie Caroline Claire highlighted the group of Americans on the women’s side.

Todd Harris (play-by-play), Todd Richards (analyst), Luke Van Valin (analyst) and Tina Dixon (reporter) provide commentary from Mammoth, Calif.
CURLING NIGHT IN AMERICA – TOMORROW AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBCSN continues its Curling Night In America series with the third of eight episodes this Friday night at 10 p.m. ET, as Team USA squares off against China in women’s curling. Last week showed the television debut of mixed doubles in curling, as the Team USA pair of Corey Dropkin and Sarah Anderson earned an 11-4 victory over Japan.

Jason Knapp (play-by-play) and 2006 Olympic bronze medalist and eight-time U.S. national champion Pete Fenson (analyst) will provide commentary, while Tanith White (reporter) offers reports from Curl Mesabi in Eveleth, Minn.
NBC SPORTS GROUP PRESENTS COVERAGE OF THE 2016 EUROPEAN FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEK

Announced earlier this week, NBC Sports Group presents coverage of the 2016 ISU European Figure Skating Championships this week, continuing this Sat., Jan 30, at 6 p.m. ET on Universal HD. Coverage culminates this Sunday, Jan. 31, at 4 p.m. ET on NBC with the men’s and ladies’ free skates. Universal HD presents coverage of the men’s and ladies’ short programs, pairs’ free skate and the free dance program. NBC Sports Live Extra will also provide streaming FIS World Cup ski jumping and freestyle skiing coverage this weekend from Sapporo and Calgary, respectively, this Saturday beginning at 2:30 a.m. ET.
