NBC SPORTS GROUP PRESENTS MORE THAN 40 HOURS OF OLYMPIC WINTER SPORTS COVERAGE THIS WEEKEND

Lindsey Vonn and Travis Ganong Headline FIS World Cup Alpine Skiing Coverage on NBC, NBCSN, Universal HD and NBC Sports Live Extra

Curling Night In America Presents U.S. Television Debut of Mixed Doubles Format with Team USA vs. Japan Match Tomorrow Night at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN

 NBC Sports Live Extra Presents IBSF World Cup Bobsled and Skeleton Coverage from Park City

STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 14, 2016 – NBC, NBCSN, Universal HD, and NBC Sports Live Extra will present more than 40 hours of Olympic winter sports coverage this weekend spanning alpine skiing, bobsled and skeleton, curling, and cross country skiing. Coverage is highlighted by U.S. Olympic skiers Lindsey Vonn and Travis Ganong in FIS World Cup alpine skiing action, and the U.S. television debut of curling’s mixed doubles format on NBCSN’s Curling Night In America tomorrow night at 10 p.m. ET.
FIS WORLD CUP ALPINE SKIING – SATURDAY AT 6:30 A.M. ET ON NBCSN, 3:30 P.M. ET ON NBC

NBC Sports Group’s live men’s and women’s FIS World Cup skiing coverage on NBCSN begins Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. ET with the men’s downhill in Wengen, Switzerland, with same-day delayed coverage airing on NBC on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ET. Austrian Marcel Hirscher has a substantial lead in the overall FIS World Cup standings (801 points) ahead of Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal (636). U.S. Olympian Travis Ganong, who sits in 11th in the overall standings, is expected to compete in the downhill.

Lindsey Vonn continues her pursuit of the World Cup victories record, as she is just 13 wins away from reaching the all-time mark of 86, held by Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark. Vonn currently sits in second position in this season’s overall World Cup standings (700) behind Swiss Olympic bronze medalist Lara Gut (738).

NBC Sports Live Extra and Universal HD will present women’s FIS World Cup skiing action from Flachau, Austria. Women’s slalom coverage streams Friday on Live Extra at 9:30 a.m. ET, and airs on Universal HD that evening at 5:30 p.m. ET. Sunday’s streaming of the giant slalom coverage begins at 3:15 a.m. ET, and will air on Universal HD on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. ET

Steve Porino (play-by-play) and Olympic downhill skier Todd Brooker (analyst) will call this weekend’s men’s alpine skiing coverage airing on NBC and NBCSN.


CURLING NIGHT IN AMERICA –
TOMORROW NIGHT AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Curling’s new mixed doubles format makes its U.S. television debut this week on NBCSN’s Curling Night In America tomorrow night at 10 p.m. ET., when Team USA faces off against Japan. Mixed doubles was approved for inclusion in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Last week on Curling Night, Team USA defeated Japan by a score of 6-5 in the first match on the men’s side.

The eight-episode television event on NBCSN features Team USA, as well as China, Japan, and Scotland, and includes one men’s, women’s and mixed doubles team from each nation. The Team USA roster includes 2006 Olympic bronze medalist and three-time Olympian John Shuster. Jason Knapp (play-by-play) and 2006 Olympic bronze medalist and eight-time U.S. national champion Pete Fenson (analyst) will provide commentary, while Tanith White (reporter) offers reports from Curl Mesabi in Eveleth, Minn.

Universal HD and NBC Sports Live Extra will present coverage of IBSF World Cup Bobsled and Skeleton action from Park City, Utah, as well as FIS World Cup cross country skiing from Planica, Slovenia.  NBC Sports Live Extra will live stream all content airing on NBC, NBCSN and Universal HD.
