NASCAR CHAIRMAN BRIAN FRANCE ADDRESSES TALLADEGA CONTROVERSY ON NBCSN’S NASCAR AMERICA

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 27, 2015 – NASCAR Chairman Brian France called into NASCAR America Tuesday evening to discuss the events that transpired at the conclusion of last Sunday’s race at Talladega. The following are highlights from France’s conversation with Krista Voda and Kyle Petty.

France on conspiracy theories surrounding Kevin Harvick intentionally causing a wreck at the end of the race:

“I understand that is a reaction. If I were a driver I would be looking for anything that would support how I felt. I can understand making that claim. But it is just not accurate, or at least it is not accurate that we can see.”

“If you are a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan, you are very disappointed. He did everything possible. What a performance, to come from behind and almost win the race. If there were a few 100 more yards he probably would have won that race. But there was a big accident. There was fire and smoke coming out of the No. 11 and safety will always come first. So out comes the caution and that is the end of the race at that moment.”
