Sherman’s Warriors Debuts on NBCSports.com this Sunday, Oct. 18, Following Sunday Night Football

“Shorts” Also Include Exclusive Scenes, Interviews & Specially Packaged Highlights

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 15, 2015 – NBC Sports Digital announced today the launch of NBC Sports Digital Shorts, an initiative focused on producing short-form original digital content for NBCSports.com and other NBC Sports Digital platforms. NBC Sports Digital Shorts content will include digital-exclusive short-form original franchises; scenes and interviews from NBC Sports Group’s broad array of linear and digital video production teams; specially packaged highlights and clips from NBC Sports Group’s properties; and more.

The first project of NBC Sports Digital Shorts is Sherman’s Warriors, an original digital series that follows former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman as he takes on a new and different challenge — coaching the Nauset Warriors, a high school football team in Cape Cod, Mass.

The six-episode series debuts this Sunday, October 18, immediately following NBC’s Sunday Night Football, and can be found at NBCSports.com/ShermansWarriors and other NBC Sports Digital platforms for desktops, tablets, mobile devices and connected TVs. Additional digital-exclusive original programming franchises will be announced in the coming months.

“In furthering NBC Sports Group’s commitment to storytelling and NBCSports.com’s focus on video, NBC Sports Digital Shorts will help us provide users with more compelling, digital-focused content than ever before,” said Brian Gilmore, Senior Director, Video, NBCSports.com. “Our debut project, Sherman’s Warriors, is a reminder of what is most important in youth sports, with a focus on fun, teamwork and leadership as Coach Sherman looks to revitalize a football program.”

During his tenure in Green Bay (2000-2005), Sherman coached Brett Favre and the Packers to three division titles and one NFC Championship game. He also spent four seasons as head coach at Texas A&M, and was an assistant coach for several NFL teams throughout his career, including the Texans, Dolphins and Seahawks.

Now, faced with a team full of struggling young football players who have become accustomed to losing, Sherman attempts to turn things around. The program will highlight whether his coaching style will get the most out of the Warriors, while his presence has made Nauset a target for other Cape Cod teams trying to take down the ex-NFL giant.

“I came to Nauset High School to not only help build a football program, but to teach these young men some of life’s lessons,” said Sherman. “We are slowly moving forward, and probably learning a lot more of ‘life’s lessons’ than we bargained for at this time of the season. I am thankful to and humbled by the fact that NBC Sports has chosen to share the Nauset Warrior experience — its ups and downs, peaks and valleys — with viewers across the country.”

New episodes will be released each Sunday and will run 6-8 minutes. Episodes will be accompanied by 1-2 minute “behind the scenes” clips that will give a deeper look at the players and characters surrounding the football program.

Sherman’s Warriors is produced by MY Entertainment and Matching Baggage Productions.

Episodes and clips will be distributed via the newly redesigned video experience at NBCSports.com, as well as through NBC Sports Live Extra — NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs — and various NBC Sports Digital distribution partners including Yahoo.com and Comcast/XFINITY’s new “Watchable” short-form video product.
