Concord, N.C. — October 11, 2015 — NBCSN presented NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing from Charlotte Motor Speedway today, an event that was postponed from yesterday evening due to weather. Marking the first race in the postseason Round of 12, today’s Bank of America 500 was a crucial contest for each of the Chase drivers battling to advance to the next stage of the playoffs. The afternoon culminated with Joey Logano securing his first win in Charlotte and fourth win of the 2015 season.
Today’s telecast began with coverage of a high-flying stunt performed by Erendira Wallenda in the sky above Charlotte Motor Speedway, where she successfully dangled from a helicopter—using only her toes— 300 feet above the grandstands. Green-flag racing from the NBCSN broadcast booth was handled by lead race announcer Rick Allen, 21-time NASCAR Sprint Cup winner Jeff Burton and Daytona 500-winning crew chief Steve Letarte. Reporters Marty Snider, Kelli Stavast, Mike Massaro and Dave Burns contributed throughout the broadcast.

The following are highlights from today’s pre-race and race coverage on NBCSN.
Carl Edwards via his in-car radio to Burton during the pace lap: “I feel like this [postponement] has played into our hands, as it seemed like our car ran better in the sun the other day. I really do feel confident, and I feel better running [this afternoon] than I would have last night. I hope it works out like we think it’s going to.”
Kevin Harvick on race expectations before the green flag to Stavast: “There is an element of surprise with the race being in the day, and a lot of things have changed from what everyone had planned. I think there is going to be a period of adjustment.”
Letarte on the unknowns that play into today’s postponed race: “These teams weren’t able to make any changes or adjustments to the set-up that was in place for last night. The cars were stored overnight in the garage. They came in this morning, warmed up the engines, serviced the radio and helmet filter, but other than that, you’ve got what you had last night.”
Letarte on the black flag for No. 26 JJ Yeley: “This all stems from last year. Toward the second half of last year we saw a lot of right side skirts being flared out, quarter panels breaking loose and being flared out. NASCAR, after some time, started to realize this wasn’t by chance. So they have a new camera system. Every pit stop is on a camera, and NASCAR can review them.”
Burton on Kasey Kahne’s tire failure and hard contact with the wall at Lap 64, which forced his car to the garage: “I feel bad for Kasey and his team, they just can’t seem to catch a break. They ran really well early in the year, then things started to unravel and it just hasn’t stopped.”
Kahne to Stavast on his early exit from the race: “Obviously we are doing something wrong to have two tire failures like that.”
Letarte on the importance of patience at lap 85: “The only thing you are going to do on lap 85 is lose points. There are no points to gain. Points are only given on the last lap.”
Burton on the increase in restart collisions: “We saw very few of these issues with the smaller restart zone. I know drivers wanted it, but the larger you make this restart zone the harder it becomes for the cars in the back of the pack because you cannot anticipate when the leader is going to go. History and NASCAR tells us the larger the restart zone, the more crashes we’ll have on restarts.”
Matt Kenseth to Burns on his snowballing problems at Charlotte Motor Speedway: “If this is the best I can do, it is amazing I have a job.”
Burton on Logano’s lead with 5 laps to go: “If Logano can get this victory, it says a lot about him and his team and it helps with their confidence moving forward.”
