Bill Haas speaking with Golf Channel’s Steve Sands following his Presidents Cup clinching 2-up victory over Sangmoon Bae
Bill Haas – “Honestly that’s what you’ve got to want. I said something to Zach [Johnson] about ‘man I hope you guys go out and dust them in the morning so it doesn’t come down to me.’ And he said ‘that’s what you’ve got to want, because you’ve got to want to be in that position.’ It wasn’t pretty. I might have been even-par or 1-under. So it certainly wasn’t a ball-striking day for either of us. But down the stretch I hit some nice shots. I hate it for Sangmoon there on the last hole because he was grinding hard and you could feel the energy with the crowd. I was just very fortunate. I had a couple good bounces early that allowed me to get a couple up early and I just kind of hung in there. That was the hardest position I’ve felt on the golf course in my career, so it feels good to hang on and hit some good shots down the stretch.”
Bill Haas – “[It’s] hard to explain. Certainly loved to be here. I can’t even talk about it really. It was a goal of mine all year was to make this team. I shouldn’t even be getting emotional, it’s just golf. But to be in that team room with all those guys, it means a lot to me.”

United States captain Jay Haas speaking with Golf Channel’s Roger Maltbie following Bill Haas’ clinching victory
Jay Haas – “I’m so happy for the team. A great bunch of guys… When we put [Bill] out twelfth, we had no idea obviously that that was going to happen. Beautiful shots down the stretch at 16, 17 and 18. I’m just proud of all of them. I couldn’t even have dreamt this, I’m just real happy for the guys.”

International captain Nick Price speaking with Sands
Nick Price – “I don’t think it could have gotten a whole lot more exciting than that. Just save for a couple of shots and maybe a little bit of inexperience on our side. As a captain you start questioning where you placed your guys. But I think we did a pretty good job of doing the lineup today. I just had a feeling it was going to come down to one of the last two games. I’m just so proud of that team. I can’t tell you what it’s like to bring eight countries together that speak six different languages, diferent cultures and come together to play golf. They bonded, and I tell you what I’m so proud irrelevant of the outcome. We obviously would have loved to have won, but we put on a show of golf this week. Golf is the victor for sure.”

On Bill Haas making birdie on 18 to win 1-up and clinch the Presidents Cup victory for the United States
Johnny Miller – “Those last three iron shots by Bill Haas were just right on the button.”
Gary Koch  – “With all the pressure on him, the second shot to 16, the tee shot on 17, and the second shot to 18 – you have to tip your cap.”
Peter Jacobsen – “This is the shot in the arm that the Presidents Cup needed. It just goes to show you the strength of golf around the world. Not just in the Unites States, but all over the globe.”
Miller – “Quite a crescendo finish. These matches couldn’t be any better. This is really great for the world of golf.”
Dan Hicks – “Any thought that the Presidents Cup was ever in danger of losing any kind of luster its ever had, it’s regained this week in South Korea. Everything you could have asked for on this final day and through the week for that matter.”

Chris Kirk speaking with Sands after making birdie on 18 to defeat Anirban Lahiri 1 up
Chris Kirk – “Purely just thinking make it for the halve. Obviously I didn’t expect Anirban to unfortunately miss it. I hate to see that even with your opponent. But I just tried to hit it like any other putt. Just get the line and it rolled in… These team events are different, and that was for everybody that’s never seen me first pump before.”

Marc Leishman speaking with Sands after making birdie on 18 to defeat Jordan Spieth 1up
Marc Leishman – “I wasn’t expecting to beat Jordan. I knew I’d have to play really well to have a chance, and I was able to do it… You just never get up. Match play is a funny game. You can get on a run of birdies or you can get lucky and get a couple holes given to you. Which didn’t really happen to either of us… It was an enjoyable day and we both played pretty decent. It was fun.”

On Leishman
Miller – “That’s the biggest upset of the matches. Who’d have picked him to beat Jordan Spieth?

On Jason Day losing his match to Zach Johnson 3&2
Miller – “Jason Day has just not shown up this week. Just disastrous.”

On Bubba Watson missing a short putt attempt for an up-and-down birdie on 18 which resulted in a halved match with Thongchai Jaidee
Miller – “Jaidee hits it in the water, the hole is over and the match is over. Not so fast.”
Hicks – “The International’s dodged one there.”

On Phil Mickelson winning his match 5&4 over Charl Schwartzel
Koch – “Certainly justifying his captain’s pick for this squad, going 3-0-1 in this competition.”
Jacobsen – “Boy does he validate that captains’ pick by going 3-0-1 and anyone who was questioning captain [Jay] Haas.”

On Adam Scott defeating Rickie Fowler 6&5
Jacobsen – “So much for the putting woes. He has found the touch.”
Miller – “That’s a good win for Adam. I thought this was going to be a pretty tight match because Adam hadn’t been making any putts. I figured if Rickie had a good day he probably would win a close match. But Rickie has not had his A-game.”

On Louis Oosthuizen halving his match with Patrick Reed
Notah Begay – “He’s been so solid all week. He really maintained his composure after getting behind and just hung in there and hit some really great shots to get back in it.”
