On expectations heading into Final Day singles matches
Brandel Chamblee – “We’re in for something special. We’re not ordinarily treated to this close of race in the Presidents Cup going into singles [matches]… I am surprised that Jay Haas didn’t lead with strength. Nick Price had a little more dilemma. But he spread out the players that are playing the best. He took a little chance. He’s hoping [Adam] Scott putts better. He’s hoping Danny Lee plays better. He’s hoping Thongchai Jaidee plays better. But Jay Haas took big chances as well.

On Match #1: Reed vs. Oosthuizen
Paul McGinley – “I love Patrick Reed [out first]. I love that street fighting ability that he has. For me he’s a natural No. 1. And Louis is in for a really tough game today.”
Chamblee – “So much separates them in terms of demeanor. Patrick Reed has a demeanor more suited to the confrontation of match play. Having said that, in the best ball where he would have played his own ball, Patrick Reed has only made two birdies. Conversely Louis Oosthuizen has been playing superb. This is going to be a nail biter, but I would give it to Louis Oosthuizen.”

On Match #2: Fowler vs. Scott
David Duval – ““In these events, you have to make putts. There is no way around it. When you’re not making putts and you’re watching Rickie Fowler pour them in like he usually does, that’s a tough hill to climb.”
McGinely – “[Scott] needs to win this if his team is going to win. It’s a big day for Adam.”
Chamblee – “It’s distracting to be struggling with your putting. His back striking is so good, but it’s distracting. It’s hard not to give this one to Rickie Fowler.”

On Match #3: D. Johnson vs. Lee
Chamblee – “I am surprised that he put Danny Lee up so high [in the order]. I think I would have put Danny Lee much further down. He’s going to run into a formidable opponent, and I don’t see him coming out of it.”

“That’s a lot on Danny Lee’s shoulders. I just don’t see any chance for Danny Lee is he doesn’t start really fast.”

On Match #4: Holmes vs. Matsuyama
Duval – “J.B. Holmes comes into these matches not expecting to be here, and he’s played beautifully. I just think J.B. has got nothing to lose. He’s going to be relaxed, and I think he’s going to play well.”
McGinley – “I think he’s got a great mentality for match play. I think it’s going to be a tough game for Matsuyama against who I believe to be one of the strongest American players in J.B. Holmes.”
Chamblee – “This is going to be tightly contested and be one of the better matches I do believe. But I think Hideki Matsuyama is going to edge him out at the end.”

On Match #5: Watson vs. Jaidee
Chamblee – “It doesn’t look like singles is really Bubba Watson’s game. He’s lost his only singles match in a Presidents Cup and he’s lost in the last three Ryder Cups in singles. You could say he’s do. But Thongchai Jaidee is an easily underestimated opponent.”

On Match #7: Mickelson vs. Schwartzel
Chamblee – “His neck is on the line, and surely he feels that. And he cannot afford to lose.”

On Match #9: Spieth vs. Leishman
Chamblee – “On paper this is a mismatch for sure.”
Duval – “Jordan has lived up to [expectations] time and time again. But there’s a lot on him at this point. Jay Haas made it clear that he wanted him at a certain part of the lineup. Now he’s got to deliver.”

On Match #10: Z. Johnson vs. Day
McGinley – “Jason has got to stand up here and win a point if the Internationals are going to win. It should be a very close game but I expect some kind of reaction from Day, because he hasn’t delivered yet.”
Duval – “This is a situation where [Day] has a chance to really be that leader of that team. And that’s what we all expect him to be.”
Chamblee – “Nick Price is gambling that some of his players that are not on form are going to play well. So that by the time it does get to Jason Day, the match is relevant.”

On Match #11: Kuchar vs. Grace
Chamblee – “This will be the first time that Kuchar plays his own ball. And he’s going up against a guy who is playing extremely well.”
Duval – “It’s hard to see Kuch beating Branden in this match.”

On Match #12: Haas vs. Bae
Chamblee – “Even though he is the lowest ranked player [in the event] at 88th in the world, [Bae] has been the man of the Ryder Cup. He has been the most clutch man given the pressure that’s been on him.”
